Chapter 11 - A Symphony of Healing

Spring arrived in Greenwich with a burst of life. The cold, frosted boxwoods surrounding the Caldwell estate blossomed into rich, vibrant green, and the pale marble floors that once felt like a museum now echoed daily with the joyful laughter of a running child.

It was a sunny Saturday afternoon in May.

The east parlor was transformed. The dark coffee stain on the marble floor had long been removed, replaced by a warm, hand-woven Persian rug. The tall windows were wide open, letting in a gentle breeze scented with fresh grass and blooming lilacs.

Inside, over thirty guests had gathered—not society elites or corporate investors, but real friends, staff members who had become like family, Rosa's colleagues from the foundation, and Ethan's trusted personal circle.

In the corner of the room stood a brand-new, beautiful baby grand piano—a warm, mahogany instrument Ethan had purchased specifically for Lily, while his mother's black grand piano remained beautifully tuned beside it.

Lily, now four years old, wore a bright yellow sunsress and a white ribbon in her hair. She stood near the piano, holding a small bouquet of daisies.

Ethan stepped up to the small podium set up near the window. He looked handsome in a navy linen suit, his face relaxed, glowing with a happiness no financial merger could ever buy.

"Thank you all for being here today," Ethan announced, his voice filled with genuine warmth. "One year ago, this house was a cold, quiet museum. I thought success meant building walls high enough to keep the world out. I was wrong."

He looked toward Rosa, who was standing near the front row, looking breathtaking in a simple lace dress, holding hands with Lily.

"A year ago, a little girl walked into this room, sat at a piano she didn't own, and taught me that music, love, and family belong to everyone," Ethan continued, his voice trembling slightly with emotion. "She broke down my walls, and her mother gave me a second chance I didn't deserve."

Ethan stepped down from the podium and walked over to Rosa. He dropped down on one knee right in front of her, pulling a small velvet box from his pocket.

The guests gasped softly, then fell into a breathless hush.

Ethan opened the box, revealing a simple, stunning emerald-cut diamond ring—not chosen for corporate showmanship, but designed custom with an engraving inside: Our Song Begins Now.

"Rosa Martinez," Ethan said, looking up into her dark eyes with absolute devotion. "You are the love of my life, the mother of my child, and my greatest strength. Will you do me the honor of making me the happiest man alive? Will you marry me?"

Rosa covered her mouth with both hands, tears of pure joy spilling over her lashes. She didn't hesitate for even a single second.

"Yes!" Rosa cried out softly. "Yes, Ethan! Absolutely yes!"

Ethan stood up, slipping the ring onto her finger before pulling her into a passionate, breathtaking kiss as the room erupted into cheers, applause, and tearful applause.

Lily jumped up and down, clapping her tiny hands together. "Yay! Mama and Daddy are getting married!"

Ethan leaned down, picking Lily up in his arm while keeping his other arm tightly wrapped around Rosa, holding both of his treasures close to his heart.
