Chapter 10 - The Field of White Flowers

Five years later...

The fields surrounding the Rockford estate were no longer just green timberland. During the late spring, the rolling meadows erupted into a breathtaking, endless expanse of wild white flowers, stretching as far as the eye could see.

It was exactly as Evelyn had dreamed.

On a bright, warm Sunday morning, a six-year-old girl with dark curls and luminous brown eyes ran through the sea of white blossoms, her yellow summer dress fluttering in the breeze.

"Catch me if you can, Daddy!" Lily laughed, tossing a handful of flower petals into the air.

Adrian stood near the porch steps, watching her run, his hands tucked casually into his pockets. Beside him, Grace and a slightly older Emma stood holding baskets of freshly picked wildflowers.

Marcus Reed and his syndicate conspirators were nothing more than a dark chapter in a closed history book. The shadows that had once haunted the Vale family name had been entirely swept away by time, truth, and unyielding love.

Adrian walked out into the field, his boots brushing softly against the stems of the white flowers.

He caught up to Lily in a few long strides, scooping her up into his arms and lifting her high above his head as she shrieked with pure, unadulterated joy.

He held her close against his chest, breathing in the scent of sun and summer air, looking out across the endless field of white flowers that seemed to stretch straight toward the horizon.

Evelyn had once told him that she named their daughter after something beautiful that survived winter.

And as Adrian looked down into his daughter's shining eyes, he knew that the winter was gone forever. The light had won.
