Chapter 7 - The New York Showdown

The rain poured relentlessly over the industrial shipping yards of Brooklyn, New York. Massive steel cargo cranes loomed like skeletal giants against the dark, stormy skyline.

Inside Pier 42, a sprawling warehouse filled with imported luxury containers, Sean Callahan—the ruthless, silver-haired boss of the Chicago syndicate—puffed lazily on an expensive cigar. Around him stood forty armed American enforcers, waiting for the midnight delivery that would officially sign over Moretti's New York operations to their control.

"I still can't believe Luca Moretti actually stood up," one of Callahan’s lieutenants muttered nervously, pacing near the corrugated metal doors. "They say the guy is a demon. They say he crawled out of hell."

"Relax," Callahan scoffed, blowing a ring of smoke into the damp air. "He's been sitting in a chair for twelve years. His muscles are atrophied. His mind is sluggish. Tonight, we take his docks, and by morning, the Moretti empire belongs to Chicago."

SCREEECH.

The massive iron roll-up doors of Pier 42 didn't just open—they were violently ripped off their motorized tracks as an armored tactical battering ram smashed straight through the steel barrier.

Water splashed across the concrete floor as a convoy of four black SUVs surged into the warehouse, their high-beam headlights blinding the Chicago enforcers.

"Ambush! Take cover!" Callahan screamed, drawing his sidearm.

Before the American guards could even raise their weapons, the doors of the SUVs flew open. Moretti enforcers—disciplined, highly trained, and operating with ruthless tactical precision—flooded the warehouse.

There was no chaotic shootout. It was a surgical, terrifying demonstration of absolute dominance. Flash-bang grenades detonated with deafening pops, disorienting the guards, followed by swift, silent takedowns that left the Chicago crew disarmed and pinned to the concrete in less than ninety seconds.

Through the parting mist and smoke walked Luca Moretti.

He wore a dark trench coat, rain glistening on his shoulders, his boots clicking rhythmically against the wet concrete. He didn't carry a gun in his hand. He didn't need to. His presence alone commanded absolute terror.

Sean Callahan stumbled backward against a stack of wooden crates, his gun shaking in his hand as he stared at the legendary Mafia King approaching him.

"L-Luca..." Callahan choked out, lowering his weapon as two Moretti guards seized his arms and forced him to his knees. "This... this is a misunderstanding! We were just—"

Luca stopped right in front of him. He reached down, snatched the cigar out of Callahan’s mouth, and tossed it into a puddle of rainwater, where it hissed and died.

"You were just stealing my docks," Luca finished for him, his voice dangerously calm.

"I'll pay double!" Callahan pleaded, sweat mixing with the rain on his forehead. "Name your price! Cash, oil, real estate—"

"I don't want your money, Callahan," Luca said quietly. He leaned down, whispering directly into the terrified syndicate boss's ear. "I want you to send a very clear message back to Chicago. Tell them that the Moretti lion was sleeping, not dead. And anyone who tries to scratch his mane while he rests... will lose their head."

Luca straightened up, waving his hand dismissively.

"Put him on a cargo flight back to Chicago tonight. Strip him of his rank, his assets, and his territory. Leave him with nothing."

As Callahan was hauled away screaming into the rain, Marcus stepped up beside Luca, handing him a clean handkerchief.

"Dock secured, Boss," Marcus reported. "New York is fully under our control."

Luca wiped the rain from his face, looking out across the sprawling Brooklyn harbor. The empire was secure. The enemies were defeated.

Now, there was only one thing left to do.
