Chapter 9 - A New Dawn

Six months later.
The morning sun flooded the sprawling backyard of the Vance estate, painting the lush green lawns and blooming flower gardens in brilliant shades of gold. The sound of cheerful music, clinking glass, and warm laughter drifted through the warm summer air.
The estate had been transformed. White silk marquees stood on the lawn, decorated with thousands of white roses and orchids. Dozens of guests—legitimate business leaders, local community figures, and loyal family friends—dressed in fine attire, chatted merrily around long banquet tables.
In the master suite on the second floor, Brielle stood before a full-length mirror.
She looked breathtaking. She wore an elegant, custom-designed white lace wedding gown that flared softly at the waist, showing off her graceful silhouette. Her dark hair was styled in soft, cascading waves held by a diamond-encrusted comb. The faint scar on her left temple was barely visible under delicate makeup—not a mark of shame, but a badge of honor.
A soft knock echoed at the door.
Elena Vance walked into the room, wearing a stunning emerald silk dress. When she saw Brielle, tears instantly welled up in the older woman's eyes.
"Oh, my dear..." Elena whispered, walking over and taking Brielle’s hands gently in hers. "You are absolute perfection."
"Thank you, Elena," Brielle smiled softly, feeling a warm tear slip down her cheek.
Elena reached into a small velvet box she was carrying, pulling out a breathtaking antique diamond necklace that shimmered brilliantly in the sunlight.
"This belonged to Dante’s grandmother," Elena said, gently fastening the necklace around Brielle’s neck. "She was a woman of immense strength, courage, and heart. She always said that a real queen doesn't wear a crown of gold—she wears a crown of courage. There is no one in this world more worthy to wear this than you, Brielle."
Brielle touched the cool diamonds resting against her collarbone, hugging Elena tightly. "Thank you... for giving me a family."
The bedroom door flew open, and little Lily came bursting into the room, dressed as a flower girl in a fluffy white dress, holding a basket filled with yellow rose petals.
"Brielle! Brielle!" Lily squealed happily, jumping up and down. "Daddy is waiting outside! He looks super handsome in his suit, but he keeps checking his watch every ten seconds because he misses you!"
Brielle laughed, kneeling down to hug the little girl. "Is that so? Then we better not keep him waiting."
Down on the grand garden lawn, under a soaring white floral arch overlooking the lake, Dante Vance stood waiting.
He wore a tailored black tuxedo that made him look impossibly handsome. His dark hair was perfectly styled, but his posture was tight with nervous anticipation. Beside him stood Leo, acting as his best man, grinning widely at his boss's unusual restlessness.
"Relax, Boss," Leo whispered dryly. "She’s not going to run."
"If she runs, I'll spend the rest of my life chasing her," Dante murmured, his eyes fixed on the entrance of the garden.
The traditional wedding march began to play.
The crowd stood up.
Brielle stepped onto the white runner, holding a bouquet of white roses and yellow wildflowers. As she walked down the aisle toward him, the sun catching the lace of her dress, Dante felt his breath catch completely in his throat.
The feared mafia king, the man who had faced down armies without blinking, felt tears misting his dark eyes as he watched the woman who had saved his family walk toward him.
When she reached the altar, Dante took her hands in his. His grip was warm, strong, and trembling slightly with overwhelming emotion.

"You look like a dream," Dante whispered softly, his voice thick with devotion.
"I'm real, Dante," Brielle smiled, her eyes shining like stars. "And I'm yours."
