Chapter 6 - THE FALL OF HOUSE HART

The noon sun was shining brightly over the private tarmac at Long Island Republic Airport.
A sleek Gulfstream jet sat waiting, its engines whining as they prepped for departure. Thomas Hart—a powerful, ruthless shipping tycoon with deep syndicate ties—was pacing near the boarding stairs, frantically barking orders into his cell phone.
Beside him, Clarissa Hart was shivering in her mink coat, her makeup smeared, clutching a designer handbag filled with passports and bearer bonds.
"Is the pilot ready?!" Thomas screamed into the phone. "Get us airborne now! Sebastian Vale has gone insane! He turned over the dockland ledgers to the federal authorities!"
"Dad, what about my trust fund?!" Clarissa wailed. "The government froze our accounts in Manhattan!"
"Shut up, Clarissa!" Thomas snarled. "We take the Swiss accounts and start over in Zurich! Once we're in Europe, we hire European mercenaries to finish off that Vale bastard and his bastard children!"
Suddenly, the roaring sound of heavy engines echoed across the tarmac.
Four heavy, black armored SUVs blew through the airport's security gates, smashing the metal barriers to splinters. They slid into a tight formation, blocking the Gulfstream jet’s path to the runway.
The SUV doors flew open. Dozens of federal agents in tactical gear, accompanied by Marko and the elite Vale security team, poured out with weapons raised.
"THOMAS HART! STEP AWAY FROM THE AIRCRAFT!" a megaphone boomed.
Thomas pulled a concealed pistol from his coat, grabbing Clarissa to use her as a shield. "BACK OFF! I have private immunity! My lawyers—"
Before he could finish his sentence, the door of the lead black SUV opened.
Sebastian Vale stepped out.
He wore a dark, tailored suit, looking every bit the sovereign ruler of New York. He didn't carry a weapon. He walked slowly across the tarmac toward Thomas Hart, his hands in his pockets, totally unfazed by the pistol pointed at him.
"Sebastian!" Clarissa screamed, her voice shrill with terror. "Tell them to put their guns down! We can talk about this! We can still make the alliance work!"
Sebastian stopped ten feet away. He looked at Clarissa with absolute pity.
"The alliance is dead, Clarissa," Sebastian said quietly. "Just like your father's empire."
"I'll shoot you, Vale!" Thomas shouted, his hand trembling on the trigger. "I swear to God, I'll put a bullet through your head!"
"You tried that last night," Sebastian replied, his tone chillingly calm. "You sent eight gunmen into a home where three four-year-old children were sleeping. You targeted my blood, Thomas. And in our world, there is only one punishment for that."
Sebastian raised his right hand and snapped his fingers.
From behind the armored SUVs, three federal prosecutors and the head of the IRS Criminal Investigation Division stepped forward, holding thick stacks of federal arrest warrants.
Thomas blinked in total confusion. "What... what is this?"
"I didn't bring my mob to kill you, Thomas," Sebastian said, a faint, dangerous smile playing on his lips. "I brought the United States Government. Every shipping lane, every offshore tax shelter, every bribe you ever paid to dock inspectors—it’s all in the federal database now. I handed them everything."
Thomas’s face went ghastly white. "You... you dismantled your own syndicate to hit me?!"
"I burned the whole house down," Sebastian said softly. "Because my family doesn't belong in the dark anymore."
Federal marshals swarmed forward, tackling Thomas to the tarmac and dragging Clarissa away in handcuffs as she screamed obscenities into the sky.
Sebastian watched them get loaded into the back of a federal van. He didn't feel triumph. He didn't feel pride. He just felt a deep, overwhelming sense of relief.
He turned to Marko. "Is the transfer complete?"
"Yes, Boss," Marko said, holding out a tablet showing financial confirmation. "The Vale Syndicate's criminal assets have been completely liquidated or surrendered under state immunity agreements. The legitimate side—Vale Global Logistics—has been restructured into a clean, transparent public corporation. Forty percent of the shares have been deposited into the irrecoverable trust for Noah, Ivy, and Owen."
"And the rest?"
"Surrendered to the federal forfeiture fund for the victims of syndicate violence," Marko replied, looking at Sebastian with deep respect. "You're a legitimate man now, Mr. Vale. Clean as a whistle."
May you like
Sebastian looked up at the blue sky, letting the cold air fill his lungs. For the first time in his life, he didn't feel the weight of his grandfather's bloody legacy pressing down on his chest.
"Let's go home, Marko," Sebastian said softly. "I have a family to win back."
