Chapter 7 - The Gathering Storm

By 5:30 PM, the grand lobby of the Grand Regent was a circus of media activity. Massive television broadcast trucks lined the streets outside, their heavy black cables snaking through the revolving glass doors and across the polished marble floor. Dozens of journalists, photographers, and camera crews had set up a wall of equipment in front of the reception counter—the exact spot where the confrontation had occurred eighteen hours prior.
The atmosphere was thick with hostility. The wealthy elites who were staying at the hotel for the corporate gala hovered around the perimeter of the lobby, whispering anxiously, while regular citizens had gathered outside the glass doors, holding signs demanding corporate accountability and respect for working-class families.
Lupita stood inside the service manager’s office, watching the live news feeds on a small monitor. She was dressed in her new professional attire—a sharp, dark grey tailored suit that looked incredibly dignified on her. Her hands were sweating, her mind racing. She had gone from cleaning toilets to being the focal point of a national news story in less than a day.
The door opened, and Ethan walked in. He looked calm, collected, and entirely unbothered by the media storm raging outside.
"Are you ready, Lupita?" Ethan asked gently.
"Mr. Vance... I am terrified," she admitted honestly. "The journalists... they are asking so many questions about the brand. They want to know if this hotel truly hates poor people."
Ethan walked over, placing a supportive hand on her shoulder. "This hotel doesn't hate anyone, Lupita. A few arrogant individuals forgot that our wealth exists to serve people, not to exclude them. Tonight, we are going to remind the world who we are. You don't need to speak to the press. You just need to stand beside me as the new face of this company's future."
At exactly 6:00 PM, the heavy mahogany doors of the executive suite opened, and Ethan Vance stepped out into the lobby. The moment his silhouette appeared, the room erupted into a frenzy of flashing white camera lights and shouted questions from the press pool.
"Mr. Vance! Is it true your staff tried to evict you?" "Are you going to fire the general manager?" "How do you respond to the public boycott?"

Ethan walked with a calm, powerful stride toward the microphone podium that had been set up in front of the reception desk. He didn't hide behind a team of lawyers or public relations executives. He stood alone, flanked only by Lupita. He raised his hand slightly, and the sheer force of his presence caused the chaotic room to fall into a sudden, expectant silence.
"Good evening," Ethan began, his deep voice carrying clearly through the massive space. "I am not here tonight to read a corporate statement prepared by public relations experts. I am here as a father, as the owner of this hotel, and as a man who believes that the true measure of a society is how it treats its most vulnerable members."
