Chapter 3: The Confrontation at the Office

Chapter 3: The Confrontation at the Office
I didn't call the police immediately. I wanted to see the look on my father's face when the trap closed.
On Thursday morning, I walked straight into Reid Signature Events' corporate headquarters. The receptionist tried to stop me, but I pushed past her, heading directly into the glass-walled boardroom.
An emergency meeting was already in progress. My father sat at the head of the table, looking exhausted, his tie loosened. My mother was wiping away tears, and Tyler was staring at a laptop, looking pale. Sitting across from them was Clare and her father, Mr. Sterling, looking absolutely furious.
"Samantha?" my mother gasped, standing up. "What are you doing here?"
"I’m here to review some logistics," I said smoothly, throwing the navy folder onto the center of the mahogany table. It slid right into the middle, stopping in front of Mr. Sterling.
"What is this?" Mr. Sterling asked, his voice cold and aristocratic.
"That is a collection of forged invoices, a spreadsheet detailing how my father stole from his own siblings to pay for this wedding, and a copy of a fraudulent loan application submitted to your bank yesterday using my forged signature," I said, staring directly at my father.
My father slammed his hands on the table, standing up. "You vindictive little girl! You're trying to ruin this family because you didn't get a piece of cake?!"
"No, Dad," I said, my voice dangerously calm. "I'm protecting myself from going to prison with you."
Clare looked at Tyler, her eyes wide with horror. "Tyler... is this true? Did your dad not pay the deposit? Did my father pay for everything while you guys took money from your own sister?"
Tyler couldn't look her in the eye. He buried his face in his hands.
Mr. Sterling opened the folder, his eyes scanning the documents. As a high-level banker, it took him less than ten seconds to recognize the financial forgery. He looked up at my father, his expression filled with pure disgust.

"The wedding is over, Richard," Mr. Sterling said, standing up and buttoning his suit jacket. "The marriage will be annulled by the end of the week. And as for this loan application... I will personally ensure our legal team handles this before the day ends."
"Clare, please!" Tyler cried out, reaching for her, but she slapped his hand away, sobbing as she followed her father out of the room.
