Chapter 7 - THE UNINVITED GUEST

The storm outside grew wilder, lightning illuminating the grand estate in sharp, violent flashes of silver.

Instead of hiding, Lorenzo decided to strike first.

At 11:00 PM, Julian Vance—a tall, oily man with slicked-back hair, wearing an expensive but tacky suit—was sitting in the VIP lounge of a high-end Manhattan hotel, drinking scotch and discussing his plan to extort the Moretti family for five million dollars in exchange for signing away his legal parental rights to Lily.

"She’s my biological daughter," Julian boasted to his four hired thugs around the table. "The law is on my side. That mob boss Lorenzo can't keep my kid without my signature, or I go straight to the media and file a federal kidnapping charge!"

Suddenly, the heavy glass doors of the VIP lounge were kicked open.

Eight Moretti security guards flooded the room with professional, terrifying speed, disarming Julian’s four thugs before they could even reach for their concealed weapons. Within ten seconds, Julian’s men were pinned face-down on the carpet, handcuffed and silenced.

Julian backed up in sheer terror, knocking his scotch glass off the table, shattering it on the floor.

"What the hell is this?!" Julian yelled, his voice cracking. "Do you know who I am?!"

Lorenzo Moretti walked into the lounge slowly, adjusting the cuffs of his tailored suit. Behind him walked Sophia, dressed in an exquisite black leather trench coat, looking every bit like the queen of a crime syndicate.

Julian stared at Sophia, his eyes widening in absolute shock.

"Sophia...?" Julian gasped, staggering back. "Look at you... you filthy little runaway! You think dressing up in designer clothes makes you someone special?! You stole my daughter six years ago!"

Sophia didn't flinch. She stepped forward, standing side by side with Lorenzo, looking down at Julian with pure, unadulterated contempt.

"I didn't steal Lily, Julian," Sophia said, her voice dropping into a deadly calm tone. "I saved her from a man who wanted to sell her to pay off his sports gambling debts."

"She’s my blood!" Julian screamed, trying to act tough, though his knees were shaking violently under Lorenzo’s terrifying glare. "I have legal rights! You can't keep her from me! I want five million dollars, or I'm going to the courts tomorrow morning!"

Lorenzo took a slow, deliberate step toward Julian. Standing at six-foot-four, his imposing silhouette cast a long, suffocating shadow over the smaller man.

Lorenzo pulled a thick manila folder from his jacket and tossed it onto the table beside Julian.

"Open it," Lorenzo ordered softly.

Julian trembled, reaching out with shaking fingers to open the folder. Inside were dozens of certified documents—criminal records from Chicago, bank statements showing illegal money laundering, and photographic evidence of Julian’s involvement with illegal underground fight rings.

"You owe three million dollars to the Chicago Outfit, Julian," Lorenzo explained smoothly, leaning in close to Julian’s pale face. "I bought your debt from the Chicago bosses two hours ago. Which means... you don't own a single cent. In fact, you owe me three million dollars. Payable immediately."

Julian dropped the folder, his face completely drained of color. "What... what are you talking about?!"

"You have two choices tonight, Julian," Lorenzo offered, his voice laced with ice. "Option one: I enforce the collection of your three-million-dollar debt right here, right now, using traditional mafia methods."

Julian swallowed hard, sweat pouring down his forehead. "And... and option two?"

Lorenzo pulled a legal surrender paper from his inner pocket and laid it on the table alongside a heavy silver pen.

"Option two," Lorenzo said, "you sign this document permanently relinquishing every biological and legal parental right to Lily Hale. You take a one-way ticket to Singapore tonight, and you never, ever return to North America again."

Julian looked from the paper to Lorenzo’s lethal, unyielding eyes, then looked at Sophia, who was watching him with cold, absolute disgust.

Julian didn't hesitate. He snatched the silver pen with trembling hands and signed his name on the dotted line within three seconds.

"Good choice," Lorenzo said smoothly, snatching the paper back and inspecting the signature before handing it to Marco. "Escort Mr. Vance directly to the tarmac at JFK. Make sure he gets on that plane."

"Yes, Don Lorenzo," Marco smiled grimly, grabbing Julian by his collar and hauling him out of the room.

Sophia stood in the quiet lounge, watching her dark past be carried away forever.

Lorenzo turned to her, wrapping his arms around her waist, pulling her flush against his chest. "It's done, Sophia. He can never hurt you or Lily again."

May you like

Sophia buried her face into his chest, letting out a long, shuddering breath of pure relief, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck. "Thank you, Lorenzo... thank you."

"Don't thank me," Lorenzo whispered, kissing her lips with deep, passionate tenderness. "I protect what is mine."
