Chapter 6 - Healing from the Ashes

With Victoria locked away awaiting trial with no possibility of bail due to her flight risk, the Harrington mansion fell silent once more—but this time, it was a peaceful, healing silence.

Nathan stepped down as the active CEO of Harrington Global, appointing a trusted associate to run the day-to-day operations. He didn't care about the billions left on the table. His only job now was being a father.

He moved the family out of the cold, monolithic mansion in the city, purchasing a beautiful, sprawling estate in the countryside of Montana, surrounded by open skies, towering pine trees, and absolute privacy. There were no cameras, no high-society galas, and no expectations.

The first few months were incredibly difficult. Leo still checked the locks on his door every night. Emma would cry if she accidentally spilled her milk, terrified of a punishment that was never going to come. Julian remained quiet, rarely speaking more than a few words a day.

But Nathan never gave up. He was there for every breakfast, every therapy session, and every midnight nightmare. He learned to cook their favorite meals. He sat on the floor of their bedrooms for hours, just letting them know he was there, a steady, unyielding shield against the ghosts of their past.

Slowly, the ice began to melt. One afternoon, while Nathan was attempting to build a wooden treehouse in the backyard—completely failing and covered in sawdust—Julian let out a small, genuine laugh. It was the first time Nathan had heard his eldest son laugh in years.

Nathan stopped, looking up at the boy, and smiled with tears in his eyes. "Think you can do better, kiddo?"

Julian climbed up the ladder, took the hammer, and said, "Definitely, Dad."
