Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Horizon

Six months later.
The sun set gloriously over the pristine waters of the Pacific Northwest, casting a brilliant orange and purple glow across the backyard of a magnificent new lakefront estate. The house was a masterpiece of open timber design and glass, surrounded by towering pine trees and completely off the gridâa perfect sanctuary of ultimate peace and security.
A grand family barbecue was in full swing. Silas "Ghost" Vance and several members of Jackâs elite Delta Force unit were laughing and chatting near the outdoor kitchen, the smell of fresh wood-fired steaks and lavender filling the crisp, clean mountain air.
Harold Graves and his seven sons had been convicted under a massive federal RICO indictment, receiving consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for corporate racketeering, financial treason, and attempted murder. The entire Graves corporate empire had been dismantled, its multi-million-dollar assets liquidated by the federal government and transferred into a permanent, independent foundation managed exclusively by Tessa to fund legal defense and medical rehabilitation programs for victims of domestic abuse.
Tessa stood near a beautifully crafted wooden easel on the patio, putting the final, elegant brushstrokes onto a massive canvas painting of a brilliant phoenix rising from a field of white roses. She looked radiant, full of life, and completely empowered, her artistic genius finally free from the toxic shadows of her past family.
Jack walked over from the grill, handing her a glass of fresh lemonade. He wrapped his strong arms around her waist from behind, resting his chin softly against her neck.
"Itâs beautiful, Tessa," Jack whispered, looking at the painting.
Tessa leaned back into his solid warmth, a deep, serene smile illuminating her face as she looked out over the sparkling lake. "Itâs our future, Jack. A future where no one can ever hide a secret, and no one can ever challenge our love."

She turned around in his embrace, her eyes locking onto his with absolute, unbreakable loyalty. "Thank you for bringing me home, Captain."
Jack pulled his beautiful wife into a warm, fierce, and protective kiss, the sound of their friends' laughter and the gentle lapping of the lake water creating a perfect harmony of peace around them. The attack dog had finished his mission, the pack had been destroyed, and tonight, the empire belonged entirely to the love they had fought so hard to save. Their true life had finally begun.
