Chapter 4 - The Media Blitz

By the next morning, the internet was on fire. The headlines were ruthless, designed for maximum clicks and public outrage: “Billionaire’s Honeymoon Scandal: Is Elliot Vance’s Ex-Maid Using a Secret Child to Extort the Vance Fortune?” and “The Real Reason for the Florence Annulment: A Mastermind Extortion Scheme.”

Naomi sat at the kitchen island of the penthouse, staring at her phone, her hands shaking violently. Tears of humiliation streamed down her face. They were calling her a gold-digger, an opportunist, a home-wrecker who had ruined a prominent family's merger.

“They’re showing pictures of Bella’s school, Elliot,” Naomi cried, her voice cracking with pure panic. “They have our old address, my restaurant job... everything. They’re making me out to be a monster.”

Elliot walked into the kitchen, his face a mask of absolute, terrifying fury. He was on the phone with his legal team, his voice slicing through the room like a blade. “I don't care what it costs! Buy out the media syndicate if you have to! Issue a blanket cease-and-desist to every outlet broadcasting those images of the child. If a single camera is pointed at my daughter or Naomi, I will sue that network into bankruptcy!”

He slammed the phone down and rushed to Naomi’s side, kneeling beside her chair and grabbing her trembling hands. “Look at me, Naomi. Look at me. I am going to handle this. This is my father’s doing. He leaked those records to force you into hiding and protect the company stock.”

“It’s working, Elliot,” Naomi whispered, looking toward the guest room where Bella was blissfully playing with her new dollhouse. “I can't raise her like this. I can't let her go to school where people think her mother is a criminal.”

Right then, the private elevator chimed. The doors opened to reveal two people: the chief physician from the clinic holding a sealed black envelope, and surprisingly, Camille—Elliot’s ex-wife.

Elliot stood up, his posture defensive. “Camille? What are you doing here?”

Camille looked exhausted, but her expression held no malice. She looked at Naomi, offering a gentle, empathetic nod before turning to Elliot. “I saw the news, Elliot. It’s disgusting. Your father tried to get me to release a statement claiming Naomi ruined our marriage. I refused.” She stepped forward, pulling a document from her designer bag. “I’m here to issue a joint press conference with you. We’re going to tell the world the annulment was mutual, amicable, and that Naomi had absolutely nothing to do with it.”

Elliot stared at his ex-wife, stunned by her grace. “Camille... thank you.”

“Don't thank me yet,” Camille said, gesturing to the physician. “Open the envelope first. Let’s give the world the ultimate truth.”

Elliot took the sealed black envelope from the doctor. His hands, usually so steady during massive corporate acquisitions, shook violently. He tore the seal open and pulled out the document, his eyes scanning down past the legal jargon to the final percentage at the bottom of the page.

Elliot looked up at Naomi, his eyes brimming with tears. “She’s mine,” he whispered, his voice choked with emotion. “She’s officially my daughter.”

Naomi let out a sob of relief, throwing her arms around his neck. The truth was out, validated by science and protected by love. But the final battle with Richard Vance and the public court of opinion still lay ahead.
