Chapter 5 - The Legal Extermination

The federal courthouse in downtown Seattle was packed to its absolute capacity. Every major financial news network, high-society columnist, and corporate executive was present to witness the final downfall of the legendary Sterling dynasty.
Eleanor and Tyler sat at the defense table, looking completely defeated. The weeks in the federal holding cell had stripped them of their arrogance. Eleanor’s hair was unkempt, and Tyler sat with his head bowed, his hands trembling continuously in his lap.
The prosecution team, backed by the mountain of forensic evidence secured by Marcus and Detective Vance, systematically laid out the timeline of horrors. They played the audio recordings of the corporate fraud, presented the chemical analysis of the poison vents, and showed the high-definition photographs of my broken body lying on the river rocks.
When it was my turn to speak, Marcus gently rolled my wheelchair to the center of the courtroom, directly facing the judge's bench. The entire gallery fell into a breathless, reverent silence.
"Your Honor," I said, my voice clear, resonant, and carrying a powerful authority that captivated every person in the room. "For my entire life, I was taught that the Sterling name stood for industry, honor, and protection. But greed is a disease that eats away at the soul until nothing remains but rot. My mother and brother didn't just try to steal an inheritance; they tried to silence the truth through poison and violence."
I turned my head slowly, looking directly into Eleanor’s tear-filled eyes.
"They told me to stop making a scene while I lay paralyzed on the rocks," I continued, my voice steady and cold. "But today, the scene is finished. The truth is spoken. And the legacy of Abigail Sterling will no longer be dragged through the mud of their cruelty."
The judge, a severe woman with a reputation for absolute intolerance toward corporate violence, didn't even hesitate. She slammed her gavel down with a sound like a gunshot.
"On the counts of corporate espionage, grand larceny, premeditated attempted murder via chemical poisoning, and aggravated assault resulting in permanent bodily harm," the judge announced, her voice echoing through the silent courtroom, "this court sentences Tyler Sterling to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole at the Florence Federal Penitentiary. Eleanor Sterling is sentenced to thirty-five years at the FCI Dublin facility."

As the court marshals stepped forward to lead them away in heavy iron chains, Tyler suddenly erupted into a manic, desperate scream, turning toward my wheelchair. "Julian! Please! Tell them to stop! I'm your brother! You can't do this to your own blood!"
I didn't answer. I didn't even blink. I simply watched their chaotic, pathetic exit, the heavy oak doors closing behind them, permanently sealing them away into the darkness they had tried to inflict on me.
