Chapter 3 - The Economic Execution

Three Weeks Later

The corporate headquarters of Sterling International in downtown Seattle was a monument to glass and steel, an architectural manifestation of pure wealth. But today, the atmosphere inside the 50th-floor executive boardroom felt like a funeral home.

I sat at the head of the massive mahogany table in a high-tech motorized wheelchair, wrapped in a sharp, tailored charcoal suit. My legs were still completely unresponsive, but the sheer, commanding aura of my presence held the twelve senior board members in absolute, suffocating silence.

Sitting at the very end of the table were Eleanor and Tyler. Tyler looked completely disheveled, his eyes bloodshot, his expensive suit wrinkled. He had been released on a multi-million-dollar cash bail—funded by an illegal private loan from one of the company's rival logistics firms—and he looked like a man standing on the trapdoor of a gallows.

"This board meeting is completely unauthorized!" Tyler shouted, slamming his fist onto the table, his voice cracking with desperation. "Julian is physically incapacitated! He is mentally unstable from the trauma! I am the rightful CEO of this company!"

"The medical evaluation board certified my absolute mental competency at 8:00 AM this morning, Tyler," I said smoothly, sliding a thin, encrypted data drive across the glass table toward the Chief Financial Officer. "And as the sole owner of fifty-one percent of the voting shares left by our grandmother, I am executing an immediate, absolute restructuring of the executive board."

The CFO plugged the drive into the main system, and the giant digital screens lining the walls instantly flashed with rows of crimson numbers and legal documents.

"What is this?" Eleanor whispered, her face turning an ashen, ghostly white as she scanned the screens.

"This is the record of your illegal dealings with the Vanguard Logistics Group," I explained, leaning forward, my eyes locking onto my mother. "To fund Tyler's private hedge fund, you systematically sold our shipping route blueprints to our primary global competitor. That constitutes corporate espionage, grand larceny, and a direct violation of federal trade laws."

The board members immediately erupted into panicked whispers, several of them instantly pulling their chairs away from Eleanor and Tyler as if they were infected with a terminal disease.

"Effective immediately," I announced, my voice cutting through the noise like a guillotine, "Eleanor Sterling and Tyler Sterling are permanently stripped of their executive titles, their corporate shares are seized under the company’s anti-fraud bylaws, and their access to all family properties is revoked."

"You can't do this!" Tyler shrieked, standing up, his chair tumbling backward onto the carpet. "You're a cripple, Julian! You're nothing without this family! I'll kill you before I let you take my company!"

Before Tyler could even take a step toward my wheelchair, the double doors of the boardroom swung open.

Detective Vance walked in, accompanied by four uniform police officers and a pair of federal marshals. "Tyler Sterling, your bail has been officially revoked due to new evidence of witness tampering and corporate espionage. You and your mother are under arrest."

As the heavy iron handcuffs clicked loudly around Tyler’s wrists, he let out a pathetic, whimpering cry, looking at his mother for a lifeline. But Eleanor was already frozen, staring down at the mahogany table, realizing that the empire she had tried to steal by spilling her own son's blood had just vanished like smoke.
