Chapter 10 - The Legacy of Love

One year later.
The historic cathedral in Manhattan was filled with soft candlelight and fragrant white lilies. The pews were occupied by a rare gathering—reformed business associates, loyal security staff led by a smiling Marco, and friends who had witnessed the incredible transformation of Alessandro Moretti.
Organ music echoed through the towering arches as Elena walked down the aisle. She looked breathtaking in a simple, elegant lace gown, her dark hair swept up, her eyes radiant with unconditional love.
Ahead of her walked two flower girls in matching white dresses—four-year-old Mia and two-year-old Sophia, tossing rose petals along the carpet with giggles and bright smiles.
Alessandro stood at the altar, wearing a midnight-blue tuxedo. Beside him on the altar table rested two silver picture frames. One was a photograph of his late wife, Isabella, smiling peacefully—no longer turned face down, but honored and remembered with love. Beside it was a photograph of Elena’s late husband, honoring the past while embracing the present.
As Elena reached the altar, Alessandro took her hand, his eyes shining with pure devotion. The priest spoke words of unity, faith, and renewal, binding their lives together before God and their loved ones.
"I pronounce you husband and wife," the priest declared. "You may kiss the bride."
Alessandro pulled Elena close, kissing her deeply as the congregation erupted into applause. Marco cheered loudly from the front row, while Mia and Sophia jumped up and down, holding hands.
Later that evening, the reception was held in the grand ballroom of their Manhattan estate. Music filled the air, and guests danced under glowing chandeliers.
Alessandro walked away from the crowd for a moment, stepping out onto the quiet balcony overlooking the garden. The night air was cool and peaceful.
Elena stepped out beside him, wrapping a shawl around her shoulders. She leaned her head against his shoulder. "What are you thinking about, my love?"
Alessandro wrapped his arm around her waist, looking back through the glass doors. Inside, Mia and Sophia were curled up together on a plush sofa, fast asleep, Mia still holding her beloved one-eared stuffed rabbit, with Sophia tucked safely against her side.
"I was thinking about that night," Alessandro said softly, his voice full of gratitude. "12:07 a.m. Long Island. I set up a camera expecting to find an enemy or a threat."
He turned to Elena, taking her face gently in his hands, kissing her forehead.

"Instead," Alessandro smiled, his eyes shining with complete happiness, "I saw an angel barefoot in star-patterned pajamas... and she led me straight to you."
Hand in hand, the Don of New York and his wife turned back toward the warmth of their home, leaving the shadows of the past behind forever.
