Chapter 3 - The Mistress in RedBianca Vale had not stolen Nathan Blackwood.

She had studied him.

That was worse.

She watched him at fundraisers, investor dinners, yacht parties, and private clubs. She saw the insecurity beneath the designer suits. She saw the hunger beneath the charm. She saw how quickly Nathan became cruel when someone made him feel small.

Bianca understood men like that.

They did not want love.

They wanted a mirror that made them look taller.

So she became that mirror.

“You built all this yourself,” she whispered at dinner one night, sitting close enough that her perfume clung to his collar.

Nathan smiled.

“Not all by myself.”

Bianca laughed.

“Please. Claire? She looks like she still asks permission before buying shoes.”

Nathan did not defend his wife.

That was the beginning of the end.

Bianca pushed carefully.

She asked why Claire always seemed so calm.

She asked why Claire never fought for attention.

She asked why a man like Nathan tolerated a woman who brought no social value to his public life.

Then she offered him a fantasy.

Divorce Claire.

Pay her off.

Marry Bianca.

Rebrand Blackwood Holdings as a luxury dynasty.

Use Bianca’s social contacts to attract international investors.

Nathan loved the idea before he understood the trap.

“What if Claire refuses?” he asked.

Bianca smiled.

“Then make refusing humiliating.”

Together, they built the performance.

A gala at the mansion.

A public announcement.

A check large enough to look generous but insulting enough to remind everyone Claire was being dismissed.

Bianca would stand beside Nathan in red.

Claire would cry, accept the money, and leave.

The gossip would do the rest.

Poor Claire.

Quiet Claire.

Out of her depth.

Couldn’t handle Nathan’s success.

Nathan even prepared a statement.

After years of private difficulty, we have chosen to part ways respectfully.

Respectfully.

Claire almost laughed when her investigator showed her the draft.

There was nothing respectful about the way Nathan emptied loyalty and called it ambition.

But the affair was only the visible betrayal.

The deeper one sat inside the company files.

Nathan had been trying to separate Blackwood Holdings from Whitmore-backed assets before Claire could legally intervene. He had signed false board minutes. He had moved debt between subsidiaries. He had used Bianca’s shell consulting company to hide transfers.

Every step gave Claire more proof.

Still, she waited.

Her father asked her why.

“You have enough,” Charles said over the phone three nights before the gala.

Claire stood in the mansion library, looking at Nathan’s portrait on the wall.

“I want to know if he will stop before he destroys himself.”

Charles was silent.

Then he said, “Daughter, some men see mercy as extra time to reload.”

Claire closed her eyes.

“I know.”

“Then why wait?”

She looked toward the ballroom where staff were arranging flowers for the gala.

“Because when I move, I want him to understand he was not ruined by my father.”

Her voice hardened.

“He was ruined by every choice he made while thinking I was powerless.”

So she let the gala happen.

She let Bianca wear red.

She let Nathan bring her to the center of the ballroom.

She let him throw the check.

She let every guest see him.

Then she tore the check apart.

That was not emotion.

That was signal.

Her father’s legal team had been waiting less than three blocks away.

The second Claire said, “I’m done pretending,” the emergency orders went active.

Now Bianca stood near the staircase, her red satin dress suddenly looking less like victory and more like evidence.

The silver-haired lawyer, Diane Mercer, turned to her.

“Bianca Vale?”

Bianca lifted her chin.

“Yes?”

“You are named in the asset concealment complaint.”

Bianca laughed sharply.

“That’s absurd.”

Diane opened another file.

“Red Harbor Consulting, registered in Delaware, receiving unauthorized transfers from Blackwood Holdings. Beneficial ownership traces to you.”

Nathan turned toward Bianca.

“What?”

Bianca’s face changed.

Claire watched them both.

The mistress had thought she was helping Nathan rob Claire.

But Bianca had also been robbing Nathan.

May you like

For the first time all night, Claire smiled.

Continue to Chapter 4 to watch the police freeze the mansion while Nathan realizes Bianca betrayed him too.
