Chapter 9 - A Legacy Redefined

Two years later.
The grand courtyard of the Moretti estate was dressed in brilliant white flowers and flowing silk drapery under a clear, beautiful spring sky.
Music played softly from a live string quartet positioned near the marble fountain. Dozens of guests—allied family heads, community leaders, house staff, and friends—sat in rowed golden chairs, watching the sun beam down on the altar.
Standing at the front, looking impossibly handsome in a pristine black tuxedo, was Silana Moretti.
Beside him stood Dominic, serving as his best man, wearing a proud, rare smile.
The music shifted to a slow, magnificent bridal march.
The double doors of the West Wing opened, and Bella stepped onto the stone pathway.
She looked breathtaking in a flowing ivory lace gown, a long veil trailing behind her, carrying a bouquet of white roses and Sicilian jasmine. Around her neck sparkled the gold guardian angel necklace.
Walking beside her, holding her hand with absolute pride, was three-year-old Leo.
He wore a miniature black suit identical to Silana’s, complete with a tiny bow tie. He walked with a confident, joyful bounce, holding a satin pillow carrying two gold wedding bands.
Silana’s eyes welled with tears as he watched them walk toward him.
When Bella reached the altar, Silana reached out, taking her hand into his own. He knelt down first, tapping Leo’s tiny shoulder.
"Did you protect the rings, little man?" Silana asked softly.
"I kept them safe, Daddy!" Leo declared proudly, his bright brown eyes shining.
Daddy.
The word echoed warmly through the courtyard. Silana had legally adopted Leo six months prior, giving him the Moretti name and a legacy built on honor, protection, and love rather than blood and crime.
Silana kissed Leo’s forehead, then stood back up, looking into Bella’s glowing face.
The priest began the ceremony, but for Silana and Bella, the words felt like a simple formalization of a truth they had lived for years.
"I, Silana, take you, Bella, to be my wife," Silana vowed, his voice steady and rich with emotion. "To hold and to protect, in darkness and in light, for as long as we both shall live."
"I, Bella, take you, Silana, to be my husband," Bella wept happily, sliding the gold band onto his finger. "To love and to stand by, through every storm, forever."

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife," the priest declared. "You may kiss the bride."
Silana pulled Bella into his arms, dipping her slightly as he kissed her deeply, surrounded by the roaring applause and cheers of everyone who loved them.
