Chapter 6 - The Purge

The ballroom was silent except for Silas’s groans of pain as Marco’s men rushed forward, disarming him and pinning him to the floor.
I walked over, standing over the man who had served my family for three decades. I looked down at him not with anger, but with cold, absolute finality.
"You served my father for thirty-two years, Silas," I said softly. "He trusted you. I trusted you. But you let greed turn you into a dog."
"Kill me, then," Silas spat, blood dripping from his lip. "Do it yourself, Dominic!"
"Death is too easy for you," I replied. "You are going to spend the rest of your miserable life in a maximum-security federal prison, stripped of your name, your money, and your freedom. The FBI has already received the full digital audit of your illegal offshore accounts."
Don Moretti stood up from the table, offering me a firm bow of respect. "You handled this with honor, Dominic. The council recognizes you as the sole, unchallenged Don of the Vale empire."
The other bosses nodded in agreement, raising their glasses in a silent pledge of loyalty.
I turned away from Silas as the federal agents—whom Marco had tipped off with Silas's financial fraud records—entered the room to drag the traitor away in handcuffs.
