Chapter 10 - Clear Skies

That evening, Gabriel, Hope, and I walked along the coastal pier near our family’s private estate.
The sun was setting over the horizon, painting the sky and ocean waves in breathtaking shades of deep violet, fiery orange, and soft rose. The gentle sea breeze blew through my hair, carrying the clean, crisp scent of salt water.
Gabriel carried Hope on his shoulders, making silly faces that made her laugh continuously—a bright, ringing sound that echoed across the quiet beach.
I walked beside them, feeling the warm sand beneath my feet, my heart overflowing with an unbelievable sense of gratitude, freedom, and strength.
Fourteen months ago, I was lying broken, bleeding, and unconscious on a cold kitchen floor, surrounded by monsters who thought I was completely alone. They thought my silence was weakness. They thought my fear was permanent.
They didn't know that behind my silence stood a brother who would destroy empires for me. They didn't know that inside my bruised body burned the fire of a mother who would survive anything to protect her child.
I took Gabriel’s hand on one side and held Hope’s tiny hand on the other as we stood at the edge of the water, watching the gentle waves lap against the shore.

The darkness had passed. The storm had ended.
And as the sun dipped beneath the clear horizon, I knew that our sky would stay clear and bright forever.
