Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

Six months later.
The private estate in Martha’s Vineyard was miles away from the rain-slicked streets of Boston, surrounded by ocean waves and white sand beaches. The air here was salt-sweet and pure.
In the nursery overlooking the ocean, soft sunlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The room was decorated in warm cream tones, filled with handcrafted wooden toys and shelves of classic books.
Damien Cross stood by the crib, dressed in a soft linen shirt, cradling a tiny bundle wrapped in a pale blue blanket.
The baby—a boy with a shock of thick dark hair and bright, alert hazel eyes—gurgled softly, grabbing at Damien’s thumb with a surprisingly strong grip. Damien looked down at his son, his face lit by a soft, genuine smile that the streets of Boston had never seen.
"He has your eyes," Erin’s voice came from the doorway.
She walked into the room, wearing a loose knit sweater and jeans, looking vibrant, strong, and completely whole. The gaunt, terrified secretary who had been dying at a glass desk in Atlantic Harbor Logistics was gone, replaced by a woman who radiated happiness and peace.
She stepped up beside Damien, leaning her shoulder against his arm, watching their son play with his fingers.
"How is the new legal foundation coming along?" Erin asked, resting her head against his shoulder.
"Frank signed the final transfers today," Damien replied softly, leaning down to kiss the top of her head. "All Syndicate assets are fully converted into the Cross Maritime Trust. Clean, legal, completely above board. No more secondary ledgers. No more hidden files."
Erin smiled, reaching out to gently touch her baby’s small cheek. "So, Mr. Cross... you’re officially an honest businessman?"
"Only if you agree to be my chief executive officer," Damien turned his head, his lips tracing her temple down to her mouth. "For life."
Erin looked up at him, seeing the devotion and fierce love shining in his eyes—the same man who had carried her out of the dark, destroyed her enemies, and built a safe world for their family.

"I think I can manage that," she whispered.
Outside, the sun dipped below the ocean horizon, painting the sky in brilliant hues of gold and crimson. The storm that had followed them for so long was finally over, leaving behind a clear, bright morning for the family they had built together.
