Chapter 8 - The Wedding in the Garden

Two months later.

The private garden of the estate was transformed into a paradise of white roses, soft silk ribbons, and sweet music. Fifty close friends, medical staff, and loyal employees gathered under the shade of the great oak tree.

Nathan stood—supported by his braces and holding onto the decorated handrails at the altar—wearing a midnight-blue tuxedo that fit his broad shoulders perfectly.

Beside him stood Marcus as his best man.

The string quartet began to play a soft, romantic melody.

Lily walked down the aisle first, wearing a miniature white dress, proudly tossing pink rose petals onto the grass, a tiny silver crown resting on her red hair.

And then came Claire.

She walked down the aisle on the arm of a close family friend, wearing an exquisite lace gown that trailed gently behind her. Her dark hair was styled in elegant curls, and her face glowed with a beauty that took Nathan’s breath away.

When she reached the altar, Nathan reached out, taking her hands in his. His grip was steady, strong, and full of eternal love.

"You take my breath away, Mrs. Caldwell," Nathan whispered.

"You stood up for me, Mr. Caldwell," Claire whispered back, tears of pure joy shining in her eyes. "You stand up for us every single day."

The minister smiled at the couple. "We are gathered here today to unite two hearts that found light in the deepest darkness..."

The vows were spoken with deep, heartfelt sincerity.

"I, Nathan Caldwell, take you, Claire Dawson, to be my wife, my partner, and my heart. I promise to protect you, to honor you, and to love you and our daughter through every storm and every sunrise."

"I, Claire Dawson, take you, Nathan Caldwell, to be my husband. You gave my daughter a father, and you gave me a home. I am yours, forever."

"By the power vested in me," the minister announced, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Nathan, you may kiss your bride."

Nathan carefully leaned forward from his supports, pulling Claire into his arms, kissing her with a passion that made the entire garden erupt into cheers and applause.

Lily ran up, throwing her arms around both of their legs, giggling happily as the three of them embraced under the warm sunlight.
