Chapter 12 - Shadows Banished

By sunrise, the rain had stopped, giving way to a crisp, crystal-clear morning over the Hudson River.
Matteo Moretti’s global network was systematically dismantled by federal agencies overnight, fueled by an avalanche of encrypted files leaked directly from an untraceable server. The last lingering threat to the DeLuca name was erased not with bloodshed, but with total, legal annihilation.
At the DeLuca estate, the morning sun lit up the glass conservatory.
Sophia sat in a plush armchair, wrapped in a soft cashmere blanket, sipping tea while Emma sat on her lap, hugging her tightly. Isabella sat beside them, holding Sophia's hand, offering silent, sisterly comfort.
The door to the conservatory opened, and Lorenzo stepped inside, carrying five-year-old Bella on his shoulders. The little girl was giggling, holding onto her father’s hair as if riding a giant.
"Daddy!" Bella cheered as Lorenzo gently set her down on the carpet. "Is the bad man gone forever?"
Lorenzo knelt down, smoothing his daughter’s dark curls—the exact hair her mother possessed. "Yes, sweetie. The bad men are gone, and they are never coming back."
Bella ran over to join Emma, and the two little girls immediately began playing with a set of wooden blocks on the rug, their light, happy laughter filling the bright room.
Isabella stood up and walked over to Lorenzo, sliding her arms around his waist. He wrapped his broad arms around her, resting his cheek against her warm hair, breathing in her soft rose scent.

"Is it finally over?" she whispered against his chest.
"It's over, Isabella," Lorenzo replied, his voice deep and filled with an overwhelming sense of finality. "Every debt is paid. Every shadow is gone."
