Chapter 6 - A New Dawn

The press conference was a spectacle. Isabella stood before a wall of cameras, looking not like the 'quiet wife,' but like the leader she had always been.

"Cross Holdings will remain," she announced. "But the era of entitlement ends today. We are pivoting back to the founder's original vision: integrity, long-term stability, and community investment."

She announced a restructuring that removed the entire old guard, including Vanessa. She then addressed the legal issues involving Damian.

"My husband made mistakes," she said, her voice steady. "But he was a victim of a system that rewarded greed over character. I am working with the authorities to ensure the company is held accountable, but I will not allow the legacy to be dismantled."

Behind the scenes, the legal battle was intense. Isabella used her own personal fortune to pay off the fines, effectively buying Damian his freedom, but at a cost: he would spend the next five years serving in the company’s lower-level logistics department, far from the executive boardroom.

When Damian returned home, he looked different—humbled, tired, and stripped of his arrogance. He found Isabella in the garden, looking at the city skyline.

"Why?" he asked, walking up to her. "After everything I said, everything I did... why save me?"

Isabella turned to him. "Because I didn't marry a title, Damian. I married a man. And I believe that man is still in there somewhere, buried under years of bad advice and bad choices."
