Chapter 6 - The Golden Era

One year later.

The grand ballroom of the newly renovated Montrose Mansion was once again filled with light, but the atmosphere was entirely different.

The guests tonight were not superficial socialites performing for wealth. They were genuine humanitarians, scientists, artists, and families who had benefited from the Montrose Foundation's charity work. The music was warm and lively, and laughter echoed off the high marble walls.

Isabella stood by the large bay window overlooking the gardens, wearing a breathtaking emerald-green gown that radiated elegance and confidence.

"You look like you're plotting another corporate takeover," a warm, deep voice teased from behind her.

Isabella turned to see Julian Vance, a brilliant, kind-hearted architect who had partnered with her to build the new affordable housing districts. Over the past year, Julian had shown Isabella what true partnership meant—supporting her ambitions, listening to her ideas, and loving her simply for who she was, without any hidden agendas.

"I was actually thinking about how much I love this room now," Isabella smiled, accepting the glass of sparkling water he offered. "It used to feel so cold."

"That's because it was filled with people who only saw the gold on the walls," Julian said softly, his hand gently finding hers. "Now, it's filled with people who see the light in you."

Arthur Pendelton approached them, a warm smile on his face. "Ms. Montrose, your father requests a dance. And the board would like to raise a toast to our Chairwoman."

"Go," Julian whispered, kissing her cheek gently. "I'll be right here waiting."

Isabella walked toward the center of the ballroom. As she stood beneath the crystal chandelier, the golden light reflected off her dress like a thousand fragments of a beautiful, unbroken mirror.

She had survived the pressure. She had broken the glass cage. And now, standing surrounded by real love, true loyalty, and her own undeniable power, Isabella Montrose was finally home.
