Chapter 6 - The Mistress's Betrayal

The morning sun rose over the city, casting a brilliant golden light across the skyline. Inside the Presidential Suite of the Grand Crest Hotel, Isabella sat by the floor-to-ceiling windows, sipping Earl Grey tea from a porcelain cup.
Standing behind her was her father, Arthur Vance, a distinguished man with silver hair and sharp, intelligent eyes.
"You held back for a long time, Isabella," Arthur said quietly, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Eleven years is a long time to play the quiet wife to a man who didn't appreciate your brilliant mind."
"I wanted to believe in him, Father," Isabella replied, staring out at the city below. "I wanted to give him every opportunity to prove that he cared about the work, about the people, about us. But pride is a slow poison."
"And now?"
"Now, we clean house."
Meanwhile, in a dingy diner three blocks away from the hotel, Marcus and Chloe sat in a vinyl booth. Marcus was desperately trying to use a borrowed laptop to log into his crypto wallets, only to find the access keys revoked due to two-factor authentication tied to his seized phone number.
Chloe watched him with growing disgust. The handsome, powerful billionaire CEO she had seduced had vanished, replaced by an anxious, disheveled man clutching a cold cup of cheap coffee.
"So... you really have nothing?" Chloe asked, her voice sharp.
"It's temporary!" Marcus hissed, staring at the screen. "My lawyers will fix this! It's a temporary freeze!"
"Your lawyers aren't answering your calls, Marcus!" Chloe shouted, slamming her hands on the table. "I threw away my career for you! You promised me a penthouse in Manhattan! You promised me a share of the new resort in Bali!"
"I gave you three million dollars!" Marcus yelled back.
"Which is frozen!" Chloe shrieked. "The police told me if I touch those accounts, I'll be named as an co-conspirator in federal fraud!"
Chloe stood up, grabbing her plastic bag.
"Where are you going?" Marcus demanded, reaching for her wrist.
May you like
Chloe slapped his hand away. "Away from you. You're a fraud, Marcus. You weren't a king. You were just a puppet whose string got cut."
She turned and walked out of the diner, leaving Marcus entirely alone.
