Chapter 10 - The Sovereign of the New Empire

Two years later.
The Manhattan skyline glittered through the floor-to-ceiling windows of my penthouse suite at Graves Tower. Down below, the city rushed by in a blur of yellow cabs and glowing neon, completely oblivious to the silent, absolute power that held its invisible strings.
I stood by the glass, holding a crystal tumbler of scotch, watching the evening traffic.
Footsteps padded softly across the hardwood floor behind me.
“He’s finally asleep,” Clara’s voice murmured warmly.
I turned around. Clara walked over, leaning her head against my shoulder as she looked out at the sprawling city. Two-year-old Leo was now a energetic, bright-eyed toddler who had his mother’s sharp hazel eyes and my stubborn, relentless determination.
“It took three bedtime stories and an extra glass of milk, but he’s finally down,” Clara smiled, wrapping her arms around my waist.
“He’s high-energy,” I chuckled, setting my glass down and wrapping my arms securely around her. “Must get it from his mother.”
“Or his father,” Clara teased, tilting her head up. “Considering how you ran the entire Atlantic shipping network from your phone during breakfast this morning.”
“Business never sleeps, Clara,” I said softly, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “Neither do our enemies. But they know better than to test us now.”
The Rossi syndicate was no longer just an underground mafia family; it was a legitimate, global corporate empire backed by absolute military and financial dominance. The shadow war was over. The traitors were long forgotten.
We had survived the betrayal, the lies, the blood, and the storm.
Clara looked up into my eyes, her gaze steady, filled with an unshakable devotion that money could never buy and power could never command.
“We won, Lorenzo,” she whispered.

I looked down at the woman who had wandered into a bulletproof nursery as a starving baby’s savior and transformed into the queen of my empire.
“No, Clara,” I smiled, pulling her flush against my chest as the city lights twinkled beneath us. “We didn't just win. We built a kingdom that will last for generations.”
