Chapter 10 - The Dawn of a New Dynasty

One year later.

The sun shone brightly over the lush, green gardens of the new Thorne estate—a beautiful, warm home filled with laughter, far away from the cold, sterile grand staircase of the Vance mansion.

Balloons of blue and gold floated in the breeze, and a large banner read: "Happy 1st Birthday, Leo!"

Sarah stood on the patio, looking out at the guests. She looked stunning, healthy, and radiant in a simple yellow summer dress. The physical and emotional scars of that terrible night had healed, replaced by a deep, unbreakable peace.

Her father and brother had been sentenced to fifteen years in a federal penitentiary, their wealth seized and redistributed to various charities and victims of their corporate greed. The Vance name was gone, but in its place, a new, honorable legacy had begun.

From the lawn, a joyous shout echoed.

"Look who's walking!" Daniel laughed, holding his hands out.

Little Leo, now a chubby, healthy toddler with bright, hopeful hazel eyes and messy light brown hair, took three brave, wobbly steps across the grass before tumbling safely into his father's waiting arms. Daniel scooped him up, throwing him into the air as Leo let out a squeal of pure delight.

Daniel walked over to Sarah, holding their son close. Leo reached out, his tiny hand grabbing Sarah’s finger, his grip strong and warm.

"You built this, Daniel," Sarah whispered, leaning her head against her husband's shoulder as they watched their friends and loved ones laugh and celebrate. "You saved us."

"We built this together, Sarah," Daniel corrected her, kissing the top of her head and then Leo's forehead. "And nothing will ever tear us apart."

As the sun began to set, casting a warm, golden glow over the happy family, the echoes of the staircase were finally gone, replaced forever by the sweet, beautiful sound of their son’s laughter.
