Chapter 6 - The Raid

The night exploded into chaos.
Flashbang grenades shattered the reinforced glass windows of the Montgomery townhouse. Flashy red and blue police lights illuminated the dark Upper East Side street as SWAT teams breached the front doors.
"Federal Agents! Drop your weapons!" roared the tactical officers as they flooded the grand foyer.
Julian Cross and his men didn't hesitate. They opened fire, turning the multi-million-dollar luxury estate into a war zone. Crystal vases shattered, priceless oil paintings were torn apart by stray bullets, and the silver dinnerware Victoria loved so much was trampled under heavy tactical boots.
Ethan screamed, scrambling under the heavy mahogany desk, covering his head. Victoria, realizing her empire was completely lost, made a desperate run for the hidden safe. As she burst out into the dark, rainy alleyway behind the townhouse, she ran straight into a figure standing under the streetlamp.
It was Agent Clara Vance, flanked by four armed federal officers.

"End of the line, Victoria," Clara said, her weapon raised.
Victoria looked down at the heavy ledger in her hands, then up at the agents. Slowly, her wealthy pride evaporating into the cold night air, she dropped the book into the wet puddle at her feet and raised her hands.
