Chapter 4 - The Architect of Shadows

The night bled into the early hours of the morning. Rosa found herself in the kitchen, nursing a cup of tea that tasted like nothing. She was the only person who knew what the house looked like when the lights went out—the real, rotting core of the Whitmore legacy.
Arthur, the head of security, approached her. He placed a folder on the table. It wasn't full of documents, but of photographs—photographs of Vivian meeting with a lawyer, signing documents that looked suspiciously like a will modification, and, most damning of all, a photo of her visiting a clinic known for ‘euthanasia consulting.’
"You saved the boy," Arthur said quietly, surprising Rosa.
"I didn't save anyone," she countered. "The child did."
"Sophie is more than just a child," Arthur said, his eyes scanning the empty kitchen. "She’s the only one in this family who hasn't learned how to hide her eyes. Vivian thought she was invisible because she was small. That was her mistake."
Rosa opened the folder. The evidence was overwhelming. Vivian had been embezzling money for months, funneling it into offshore accounts under the guise of 'charitable donations.' The fall wasn't just about an inheritance; it was about covering up a massive financial hole that would have sent her to prison years ago.
"Why are you showing me this?" Rosa asked.

"Because the police won't be enough," Arthur replied. "Vivian has friends in high places. Judges, senators—people who would rather see this swept under the rug than have a Whitmore scandal turn into a media circus. Nathaniel needs an ally. Someone who saw what happened, someone who can testify that it wasn't just an accident, but a calculated execution."
Rosa looked at the photos. The fear that had paralyzed her earlier was replaced by a cold, hard resolve. For the first time in her life, she had power. The Whitmores lived in a world of shadows, and she was finally ready to step into the light and set things on fire.
