Chapter 5 - The Receipts Go Viral
The next evening, at exactly 8:00 PM, I went live. Thanks to Chloe's smear campaign, curiosity was at an all-time high. Within five minutes, over 100,000 people were watching.
I sat in front of the camera. I didn't hide my wheelchair. I wore a simple black sweater, looking exhausted but completely composed.
"Hello everyone," I began, my voice steady. "Many of you have seen a video posted by my sister and mother claiming that I have abandoned them out of corporate greed and instability. I believe in transparency, so instead of making emotional claims, I am here to present facts."
I shared my screen, pulling up the first document.
"This is the official police report and medical log from the night of my near-fatal car crash three weeks ago. As you can see, I suffered severe internal injuries and fractures. My one-year-old twins were left alone."
I clicked to the next slide—an audio file.
"This is the recording of the phone call I made to my mother from the ambulance bay, begging her to take care of my children."
I pressed play. My mother's sharp, impatient voice filled the live stream, crystal clear: “I still need time for pickleball! Your sister never burdens us the way you do.” The line clicked dead.
The comments section, which had been full of insults, froze. Then, a tidal wave of shocked emojis and comments began to fly past.
"Oh my god, she actually said that?" "Pickleball over her dying daughter and grandbabies?!"
"But let's talk about the 'burden'," I continued smoothly. I pulled up a massive spreadsheet. "Over the last ten years, I have paid exactly $412,000 toward my parents' mortgage. Here are the bank wire receipts. I have paid $85,000 for their luxury vacations. Here are the invoices. And here are the corporate tax returns for my sister Chloe's boutique—which was funded entirely by 'loans' from my personal account totaling $200,000, none of which have ever been repaid."

I looked directly into the camera lens. "I did not abandon my family. My family abandoned me when I was broken on a hospital bed, because for one night, I asked them to give me support instead of money. I have cut off their funding because I will no longer finance people who view my life as nothing more than a transaction."
The live stream ended. Within an hour, the video had 2 million views. The internet, which had been weaponized against me, turned around and marched directly toward Eleanor and Chloe with pitchforks.
