Chapter 3 - The DNA Revelation

The following days were a whirlwind of tension and emotional reunions. Diego immediately ordered a DNA test, wanting the legal proof not because he doubted Valentina was his, but to build an impenetrable iron shield of legitimacy around her against his aunt’s legal threats.

The private clinic doctor arrived at the mansion personally to process the cheek swabs. Three days later, the results were ready.

Diego sat in his private study, the sealed envelope resting on his heavy glass desk. Marisol stood near the window, her arms crossed nervously, staring out at the manicured garden where Valentina was playing under the watchful eye of a trusted new nanny.

"Are you nervous?" Diego asked gently, looking up at her.

"No," Marisol said quietly. "I know the truth. I'm just afraid of what your family will do when they see it in black and white."

Diego sliced the envelope open and pulled out the document. His eyes scanned down the formal medical terminology until they reached the final line:

Probability of Paternity: 99.99%.

A deep, trembling breath escaped Diego’s lips. Seeing the official paper made the reality even more profound. He stood up, walked over to Marisol, and handed her the paper.

"She’s mine," Diego murmured, tears shining in his eyes. "Legally, biologically, completely mine."

Marisol wiped a tear from her cheek. "Now what?"

"Now, I make her a Villaseñor," Diego declared. "I am hosting a press conference at the Villaseñor Financial Center on Friday. I will introduce my daughter to the world and publicly recognize her as my sole heir."

"Diego, no!" Marisol gasped in terror. "The media will destroy us! They’ll dig into my life, they’ll call me a gold digger!"

"They won't dare," Diego said fiercely, holding her shoulders. "Because I will be standing right beside you. I won't let them hide you in the shadows anymore, Marisol."

However, dark clouds were gathering faster than Diego anticipated.

That night, while the house was asleep, a shadow moved through the eastern wing of the mansion. A disgraced former security guard, who had been bribed with fifty thousand dollars by Paulina, sneaked into the estate’s administrative office. He copied Marisol’s personal employee files, her birth certificate, and photographs of Valentina.

By the next morning, national tabloid headlines exploded across television screens and social media:

"THE MAID'S SECRET: IS THE VILLASEÑOR BILLIONAIRE BEING CONNED BY HIS DOMESTIC WORKER?"

The articles were vicious. They accused Marisol of targeting Diego, fabricating paternity, and hiding a criminal past involving an estranged ex-boyfriend from her village who was allegedly demanding money.

When Marisol saw the news on the kitchen television, her hands went cold. The reporter was standing outside the mansion gates, surrounded by dozens of paparazzi cameras.

"They're calling me a fraud..." Marisol whimpered, covering her face as tears poured down. "They’re putting Valentina’s picture on television!"

Diego smashed his coffee mug against the counter in sheer fury. "Call my legal team! Now!"

Just then, his phone rang. It was his lead corporate attorney, Javier.

"Diego, we have a massive problem," Javier said frantically over the line. "Victoria and Paulina’s father just filed an emergency petition with the Family Court. They’re alleging that Marisol is an unfit mother with ties to criminal activity, and they’ve requested an immediate protective custody order for Valentina until a full psychological evaluation is conducted!"

"They're trying to take my daughter?!" Diego roared.

"They have a corrupt judge on their payroll, Diego," Javier warned. "The police officers are heading to your estate right now with a warrant to take the child into state care!"
