Chapter 5 - The Rebirth of the Villa

Six months later, the luxury villa looked completely different. The high, imposing black iron gates had been replaced by beautiful, welcoming wooden arches covered in blooming white jasmine. The cold, sterile corporate atmosphere that Victoria had cultivated for a decade was entirely gone, replaced by the warm, vibrant energy of a real family home.

The courtyard near the pool was filled with laughter. There were no corporate executives drinking expensive champagne or whispering about stocks. Instead, the area was filled with children playing, long-time family friends, and the loyal employees of Vance Global who had stayed true to the company during the purge.

Maya stood on the upper balcony, the very spot where Marcus had stood when the nightmare began. She looked radiant, her pregnancy now in its final week, her belly round and beautiful under a soft linen dress.

Marcus walked out from the bedroom, carrying a tray of fresh fruit. He looked relaxed, his tailored suits replaced by a comfortable sweater and jeans. The stress lines that had dominated his face for years had completely vanished.

"The board approved the final budget for the new employee housing project this morning," Marcus said, setting the tray down and wrapping his arms around Maya from behind, his hands resting gently over her stomach. "We are renaming the entire foundation the Leighton-Vance Care Initiative. Every child of our logistics workers will have their college tuition fully covered."

"My grandfather would be so proud, Marcus," Maya murmured, leaning her back against his chest. "He always said that an empire is only as strong as the people who build it from the bottom. Victoria thought the empire was the marble and the diamonds. She never understood that the empire was the people."

Suddenly, Maya stiffened, her hand gripping Marcus’s arm tightly as a sharp, sudden wave of pressure rippled through her body.

Marcus instantly went alert, his protective instincts kicking in. "Maya? Is it time?"

Maya let out a breathless, joyful laugh as another contraction hit. "Yes, Marcus. I think our little miracle decided she’s ready to see the new world we built for her."

The villa erupted into a flurry of organized, joyful motion. There was no panic this time, no terror, and no screaming. The private medical team, which had been stationed at the villa for the last month, immediately went to work. Ethan and the security team quickly cleared the driveway, ensuring a clear path for the medical transport if needed, though the villa’s private maternity wing was fully equipped.

Marcus never left Maya’s side. He held her hand through every contraction, whispering words of love, strength, and devotion into her ear. He had saved her from the dark water six months ago, and today, he was guiding her into the light of a new life.
