Chapter 6 - A Beautiful New Horizon

One year later.

The grand gardens of the Sterling Countryside Estate were no longer cold or intimidating. The grand oak doors were wide open, letting in the warm summer breeze and the sound of children's laughter. The blood-stained marble floor where Ava had once fallen had been replaced with beautiful, warm light-oak wood.

Today was the first birthday party of little Liam Sterling.

The garden was filled with colorful balloons, simple wooden tables, and real friends—Ava's former teaching colleagues, ethical business partners, and people who genuinely loved the family for who they were. There were no fake smiles or political arrangements here.

Chloe Vance was currently serving a ten-year sentence in a state penitentiary, her name forever associated with malice and cruelty. Rebecca Sterling remained in her quiet northern cottage, forgotten by the high society she had spent her life worshipping.

Ava stood near the rose bushes, wearing a beautiful, simple white sundress. She looked radiant, her skin glowing with health and happiness. She watched as one-year-old Liam took his first unsteady steps on the soft green grass, guided by Lucas, who was kneeling on the lawn, his expensive charcoal suit completely forgotten as he laughed joyfully, catching his son in his arms.

Lucas lifted Liam into the air, making the boy squeal with delight, before walking over to Ava. He wrapped his free arm around her waist, pulling her close.

"Look at them," Ava whispered, gesturing to the guests laughing together. "This place finally feels like a home."

"It became a home the moment you decided to stay, Ava," Lucas said, his eyes filled with a deep, infinite devotion. He looked down at her hand, tracing the faint silver scar on her knuckle before pressing a warm kiss against it. "I spent my whole life building an empire because I thought power was the only thing that could keep me safe. But you showed me that the greatest power in the world is the willingness to love and protect what is innocent."

Ava leaned up, pressing her lips to his in a sweet, lingering kiss that carried the promise of a lifetime.

As the sun began to set, casting a golden, peaceful light over the estate, Liam giggled, clapping his tiny hands together. They stood together—a father, a mother, and a child—completely surrounded by love, security, and a beautiful new horizon that belonged entirely to them. Cruelty had lost its grip, and love had won the ultimate victory.
