Chapter 6 - A New Horizon

Two years later.

The grand ballroom of the Escalante Corporate Plaza was filled with light, laughter, and music. Tonight was the celebration of Escalante Horizon’s second anniversary, an event that had raised over fifty million dollars for global charity initiatives.

The crowd was filled with true leaders, innovators, and philanthropists. There were no fake smiles, no hidden insults, and no toxic power dynamics.

I stood at the top of the grand marble staircase, wearing a breathtaking, backless gown of pure white silk. Around my neck was the Escalante emerald necklace, sparkling brilliantly under the crystal chandeliers. But the true shine came from my eyes.

Gabriel stood beside me, immaculate in a classic black tuxedo. He looked at me, his smile full of pure devotion. He slipped his arm around my waist, his touch gentle and protective.

"Ready, my Queen?" he whispered in my ear.

"Ready," I smiled.

As we walked down the stairs together, the entire ballroom erupted into applause. My father stood at the bottom, raising his glass with tears of pride in his eyes. I was no longer the silent wife hiding in the shadows to protect a fragile man’s ego. I was Mariana Escalante, the chairperson of an empire, loved and respected for exactly who I was.

Far away, in a cold, grey federal prison cell, Andrew Vance sat on a metal bunk, staring at a crumpled, old newspaper article showing the success of Escalante Horizon. He looked at the picture of me, radiant and powerful, standing next to a man who truly cherished me. He remembered the night he ordered me to crawl out of "his" mansion. He remembered the slap. And he finally understood the absolute truth.

He hadn't discarded a powerless woman. He had thrown away the only source of light he ever had, leaving himself to rot in eternal darkness.

But his darkness no longer belonged to my world. As Gabriel led me onto the dance floor beneath the glowing lights, I let go of the last remnants of the past. The empire I built was thriving, the love I found was real, and the horizon ahead was beautiful, boundless, and entirely mine.
