Daniel spent the night in a cold holding cell at the Maple Ridge precinct. Every second felt like an eternity. He knew that as long as he was locked away, Chief Henderson and Brian could easily find Marcus's cabin and finish what they started with Mrs. Helen.

The internet did what it does best. Within three hours, the video went viral, gaining over two million views. The family group chat screenshots—contrasting Laura’s luxury posts with the timeline of Mrs. Helen freezing in the pit—sparked a firestorm of public outrage. Thousands of comments demanded justice. People began sharing the faces of Laura, Brian, and Chief Henderson across every social media platform.
By 9:00 AM, the State Police and the FBI arrived at the Maple Ridge precinct, bypassing Chief Henderson entirely.
The cell door unlocked. Daniel looked up to see a stern-faced State Trooper. "Daniel Carter? You're free to go. The federal authorities have taken over this investigation."
Daniel walked out of the precinct into a sea of news reporters and cameras. But he didn't care about the media. He ran straight to a waiting car driven by Sarah.
