The assassin slipped into Khloe's darkened room. The heart monitor beeped rhythmically. The figure raised the syringe, aiming for the IV line.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," a voice spoke from the shadows.

The assassin froze. The lights suddenly flooded the room. Marcus stood there, flanked by three federal agents. Behind them stood Dr. Arthur Vance, holding a tablet that had been tracking the intruder's biometric keycard.

The assassin pulled off her mask. It wasn't a stranger. It was Elaine Parker—the event coordinator who had worked for Marcus for five years.

"Elaine," Marcus said, his eyes filled with deep disappointment. "You were the one who told Isabella which suite Khloe was resting in. You were the one who helped her bypass security."
