Chapter 1: The Legal Notice

Chapter 1: The Legal Notice

Marcus didn't raise his voice again.

Instead, he walked over to Maya, gently took Lily into his arms, and kissed his wife's forehead.

"Go upstairs," he whispered. "Take a shower. I'll handle everything."

Maya looked at him with exhausted eyes.

"They're your family..."

"They stopped acting like family the moment they watched you suffer."

Marcus carried Lily into the kitchen with one arm while pulling out his phone with the other. Within minutes, he was typing a formal legal notice.

Brenda scoffed.

"Oh please. You're being dramatic."

Marcus never looked up.

"No. I'm finally being responsible."

Rachel rolled her eyes.

"You can't throw your own mother out."

Marcus pressed Send.

"I just did."

Seconds later, Brenda's phone vibrated.

She frowned before opening the email.

It wasn't a bluff.

It was an official Notice of Revocation of Residency Permission, informing both Brenda and Rachel that they had exactly one hour to remove all belongings from the property. Attached was a reminder that the home belonged solely to Marcus and Maya through a family trust established before their marriage.

Brenda's smile disappeared.

"You had a lawyer write this?"

Marcus looked her straight in the eye.

"I wrote it myself."

Silence filled the room.

"You've forgotten," he continued calmly. "I'm a corporate attorney."
