Chapter 4: The Ultimate Counter-Attack

Chapter 4: The Ultimate Counter-Attack
The countdown timer on the Wall Street big screens showed thirty minutes until closing time. Genesis Corp was celebrating. Their traders were ready to execute the final blow to buy out Apex Vanguard.
But suddenly, a massive wave of buy orders flooded the market.
Not one billion. Not two billion. Five billion dollars in pure cash materialized from a sovereign wealth fund in the Middle East, bearing the name “The Phoenix Trust.”
"What is happening?!" Victor Sterling roared at his traders in the Genesis headquarters. "Who is buying Apex stock?!"
"Sir! It's a private entity! They are buying everything! The stock price is bouncing back—it’s skyrocketing!" the head trader yelled in panic. "We are shorting it! We are losing billions!"
The Phoenix Trust didn't just buy Apex stock; it began aggressively buying Genesis Corp stock. Because Victor had spent all his capital trying to destroy Apex, his own company’s defenses were weak.
Within fifteen minutes, the hunter became the hunted.
Back at Apex Vanguard, Richard Sterling stared at his monitor in absolute shock. "The Phoenix Trust... Evelyn, that’s the legendary anonymous fund that saved the European tech sector last year. How did you get them to help us?"
Evelyn smiled gently, looking out the window at the city. "I didn't get them to help us, Richard. I founded the Phoenix Trust when I was eighteen using cryptocurrency I mined in my college dorm. My father didn't know. My uncle didn't know. No one knew."
The market bell rang. Clang! Clang! Clang!
The final numbers flashed on the screen. Apex Vanguard’s stock had closed at an all-time high. Genesis Corp’s stock had collapsed by 70%.

Evelyn’s phone rang again. It was Victor Sterling. This time, there was no laughter. He sounded like a broken man. "Evelyn... please. You own my company now. Don't liquidate us. Thousands of people will lose their jobs."
"You should have thought about that before you tried to destroy my father's legacy," Evelyn said coldly. "I am absorbing Genesis Corp. You are fired. Have a nice day, Victor."
