Chapter 6 - The Infiltration

At 9:15 AM, the glass atrium of the Rivers Meridian Tower on Fifth Avenue was buzzing with chaos.

News of Nolan’s removal had leaked to the press. Financial reporters were gathered outside the brass revolving doors, cameras flashing, as the stock ticker on the lobby wall displayed Rivers Meridian (RMR) dropping from $85.00 to $42.00 in pre-market trading.

Inside the 50th-floor executive boardroom, Graham Morrison sat at the head of the long glass table, sipping vintage scotch, surrounded by eleven board members. Julian Vance stood beside him, grinning triumphantly as he tracked the crashing stock price on his laptop.

"Gentlemen," Graham announced, raising his glass. "In fifteen minutes, the stock will hit thirty dollars. Vanguard will step in, execute the purchase, and by noon, Nolan Rivers will be an unemployed memory."

Suddenly, the heavy double oak doors of the boardroom were thrown open.

Two private security guards tried to step forward, but they were gently pushed aside by four uniformed agents from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), accompanied by federal marshals.

The board members gasped, scrambling to their feet.

"What is the meaning of this?!" Graham shouted, slamming his glass onto the table. "This is a private corporate meeting! Get these officers out of here!"

From behind the federal agents, two figures stepped into the room.

Nolan Rivers walked in, wearing a sharp, custom charcoal suit, looking completely unfazed and immensely powerful.

And walking right beside him, dressed in an exquisite white tailored suit, holding a leather folder, was me.

Julian’s jaw dropped. "Maya...? How did you get past lobby security?!"

"Miss Ward doesn't need lobby security, Julian," Nolan declared smoothly, his voice commanding absolute silence in the room. "She owns the lobby."

Nolan slid a thick stack of SEC filings across the glass table directly in front of Graham Morrison.

"As of 9:28 AM," Nolan stated, "Vane & Rivers Capital has acquired fifty-two percent of all circulating common stock of Rivers Meridian Group. As majority owner, I am officially reinstating myself as Chairman and CEO."

Graham’s face turned bright red. "You can't buy fifty-two percent! You didn't have the liquidity!"

"He didn't," I stepped forward, placing my hands calmly on the table, looking Graham directly in his terrified eyes. "But Vane & Rivers Capital did. We used Vanguard's artificial short-crash to buy every single panic-sold share at a sixty percent discount."

Julian stood trembling, his hands shaking as he pointed at me. "She's... she's just an assistant! This is a bluff!"

"I was your assistant, Julian," I said coldly. "Until I uncovered your offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands. Lead Agent Miller..."

I turned to the senior SEC agent standing beside me.

"Page twelve of the ledger details how Julian Vance used $150 million from the employee pension fund to secure Vanguard's short-sell option," I reported crisply.

Agent Miller stepped forward, pulling iron handcuffs from his belt.

"Julian Vance, Graham Morrison," Agent Miller read coldly. "You are under arrest for federal securities fraud, grand larceny, and wire fraud."
