Chapter 10 - The Queen’s Coronation

Six Months Later
Spring had arrived in full, glorious bloom over the Moretti estate. The rose gardens were vibrant with red, white, and pink blossoms, and the air smelled of sweet jasmine and fresh rain.
In the center of the grand lawn, a magnificent white marble pavilion had been constructed, decorated with thousands of white orchids and silver ribbons.
Over five hundred guests—the elite of New York, international diplomats, business leaders, and the entire Moretti organization—sat in golden chairs, watching the grand ceremony.
Standing at the altar inside the pavilion was Vincent Moretti.
He looked regal in a bespoke black morning suit, his dark hair neatly styled, his posture majestic, but his gray eyes were bright with an emotional warmth that brought tears to the eyes of his old captains.
Beside him stood four-year-old Lily, looking like a little angel in a white flower-girl dress, holding a basket of rose petals, and ten-month-old Enzo, who was happily sitting in Marco’s arms, wearing a tiny tuxedo.
The orchestral music shifted into a magnificent, soaring harmony.
Every guest stood up.
Walking down the white aisle, escorted by Dr. Aris and guarded by twelve Moretti enforcers in formal uniform, was me.
I wore an exquisite floor-length gown of handmade Italian lace and silk, embroidered with tiny diamonds that caught the spring sunlight. A delicate diamond tiara rested on my dark hair, and a long silk veil trailed behind me over the white carpet.
I reached the altar. Vincent stepped forward, taking my hands in his large, warm palms, lifting my veil, his eyes gazing into mine with pure, eternal devotion.
“You take my breath away, Maya,” he whispered softly.
“You gave me a life I never dreamed possible,” I whispered back, my heart overflowing with love.
The cardinal of New York stepped forward, his voice ringing out over the quiet garden.
“We are gathered here today to unite in holy matrimony Vincent Moretti and Maya Vance,” the cardinal began. “A union forged not by political design, but by devotion, bravery, and the eternal bond of family.”
When the time came for the exchange of vows, Vincent pulled a stunning ring from his pocket—a massive, flawless emerald-cut diamond set in platinum wirework, matching the gold watch he had given Lily months ago.
“Maya,” Vincent said, his voice deep, clear, and ringing across the valley. “Six months ago, I was a man living in a cold castle, surrounded by guards and enemies. I thought power was everything. Then you and Lily walked into my home. You protected my son when I was absent. You taught me how to love, how to trust, and how to live again. From this day forward, my life, my empire, and my heart belong entirely to you. You are my wife, my partner, and the undisputed Queen of the Moretti family.”
Tears of pure, unadulterated happiness spilled down my cheeks as I slipped a matching platinum band onto his finger.
“Vincent,” I whispered, looking into his steady, loving eyes. “You saved my daughter and me from a life of fear and poverty. You gave us respect, safety, and a love deeper than the ocean. I promise to stand by your side through every storm, to guard our children, and to love you for all the days of my life.”
“By the power vested in me,” the cardinal smiled brightly, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. Mr. Moretti, you may kiss your Queen.”
Vincent didn't wait a second.
He stepped forward, pulled me into his powerful arms, and dipped me back gracefully as he pressed his lips to mine in a deep, passionate, miraculous kiss that sealed our souls together forever.
The entire valley erupted into resounding, joyful cheers. Guns were fired into the air in traditional salute, rose petals rained down from the sky, and little Lily laughed happily, throwing her flower petals over our feet.
As the sun began to set over the rolling hills of Sewickley Heights, casting a warm golden light over our estate, Vincent held me close against his side on the grand balcony of the master suite.
Below us, our family, our friends, and our staff were celebrating at the long banquet tables, their laughter echoing into the quiet evening air.
Vincent wrapped his arms around my waist, resting his chin on my shoulder, his hand coming to rest gently over my stomach, where a tiny, new life—our second child—was just beginning to grow.
“No more crying in the kitchen, my Queen,” Vincent whispered softly into my ear, kissing my neck.
I turned in his arms, smiling up into the eyes of the most feared—and most loving—man in the world.

“No more crying, my King,” I agreed softly, pressing my lips to his. “Only love. Forever.”
The maid’s daughter had saved the mafia boss’s baby. And in doing so, she had given a dark empire its brightest light.
