Chapter 6 - The Boardroom Gambit

Adrian left the estate at midnight under the cover of a blinding snowstorm. The house fell back into a tense, suffocating silence. Hannah stayed awake in the master suite, pacing the floor with Lucas in her arms, her mind constantly replaying the fire of his kiss and the terrifying possibility that it was the last time she would ever feel his touch.

In Manhattan, however, Adrian Vale did not walk into the trap Falcone had set in the dark alleys of the docks. He had spent ten years quietly building something far more lethal than a street gang: an airtight network of legal leverage, federal contacts, and corporate intelligence.

Instead of meeting Falcone's mercenaries with automatic rifles, Adrian made a single phone call to the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Organized Crime Division—a man who had spent five years trying to build a case against the Falcone family.

At 2:00 AM, Don Vincenzo Falcone was sitting in his high-security penthouse suite in Midtown, surrounded by his top lieutenants, waiting for news from the docks. Suddenly, the double doors of his office were kicked open.

It wasn't masked gunmen who poured into the room. It was forty heavily armed federal agents accompanied by tactical teams, arrest warrants, and federal prosecutors.

Adrian Vale stepped into the room behind the agents, wearing a pristine charcoal suit, his hands tucked casually into his pockets. He walked over to Falcone's desk as the older Don was thrown onto the Persian rug in handcuffs.

"Vale!" Falcone spat, struggling against the flex-cuffs. "You rat bastard! You went to the feds?! You're a Moretti associate! You're breaking the code!"

Adrian leaned down, his dark eyes ice cold. "I broke the code the moment I decided my son wasn't going to grow up surrounded by scum like you. Every offshore account, every bribe to the port authorities, every burial site your crew used for twenty years—it’s all on a federal server right now."

He picked up his gloves from the desk, looking down at his former rival with supreme contempt. "You wanted my empire, Vincenzo. Now you can have a six-by-eight cell in a federal penitentiary for the rest of your natural life."

Adrian turned his back on the screaming old man and walked out into the cold morning air. He was done with the underworld. He was going home.
