Chapter 10 - The Harvest of Joy

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, velvet box, snapping it open to reveal a magnificent ring—a radiant, oval-cut diamond set in a band of twisted yellow gold, subtle and brilliant.
"A year ago, I walked into a dark bakery a broken man, holding a dying child, begging a stranger for help," Adrian said, his voice trembling with deep emotion as people on the street paused to watch. "You gave my son life, Hannah. And then you gave me a reason to live. I don't want a single day to pass where I am not standing by your side as your husband, your protector, and your partner."
He looked up at her, his eyes shining with absolute devotion. "Hannah Brooks, will you marry me?"
Hannah didn't hesitate for a single second. She sank down onto her knees on the sidewalk beside him, wrapping her free arm around his neck, pulling his lips to hers in a joyful, passionate kiss as Lucas let out a happy squeal between them.
"Yes!" she wept against his lips, smiling through her tears. "Yes, Adrian! Yes!"
The passersby on the street broke into spontaneous applause and cheers. Adrian pulled her up, lifting both Hannah and Lucas into his arms, spinning them around under the bright afternoon sun.
Two years later, autumn had returned to Long Island, painting the coastal trees in vivid shades of crimson, orange, and gold.
The Vale estate was overflowing with warmth, laughter, and life. In the vast back garden overlooking the blue waters of the ocean, a small, intimate wedding ceremony had just concluded.
Hannah stood on the lawn in a breathtaking lace dress, a wreath of white flowers in her hair, holding a newborn baby girl—their daughter, Isabel Grace Vale—wrapped in a soft pink blanket.
Beside her, three-year-old Lucas was running around in a tiny tuxedo, chasing the golden retriever across the grass while Frankie and Theresa laughed from the terrace, holding glasses of champagne.
Adrian stepped up behind his wife, wrapping his arms around her waist, resting his chin gently on her shoulder as they watched their children play in the golden afternoon light. The air smelled of ocean salt, fallen leaves, and fresh cinnamon bread cooling on the patio tables.
"Are you happy, Mrs. Vale?" Adrian murmured softly, kissing the sensitive skin behind her ear.
Hannah leaned back against his broad, solid chest, looking out at the family they had built from the ashes of two broken lives.

"I am complete, Adrian," she answered softly, reaching up to rest her hand over his. "We are home."
And as the sun sank below the horizon, painting the sky in glorious shades of pink and gold, the former mafia boss and the grieving baker stood together, bound forever by a love that had turned tragedy into peace, and a house into a home.
