Chapter 10 - THE LEGACY OF LOVE

One year later. Autumn 2026.
The grand cathedral in downtown Chicago was decorated with thousands of white orchids, crystal chandeliers, and warm candlelight.
Over five hundred guests filled the pews—business leaders, family members, and former rivals who had joined together under the unified, peaceful alliance created by Julian Vance.
At the front of the altar stood Julian, looking impossibly handsome in a custom black tuxedo. Beside him stood Marco, his loyal lieutenant, holding the ring box.
The doors at the back of the cathedral swung open.
A hush fell over the crowd as two-year-old Leo walked down the aisle as the ring bearer, wearing a tiny black tuxedo just like his father’s, holding his little sister’s hand—our four-month-old daughter, Sophia, who was wrapped in a delicate lace gown.
And then came the bride.
I walked down the aisle on the arm of Old Man Dominick, the senior elder of the Commission who had helped broker the final peace. I wore a custom ivory lace gown with a sweeping ten-foot train, my hair styled in elegant waves, holding a bouquet of white roses.
As I reached the altar, Julian took my hand. His fingers brushed against mine—the dark dragon tattoo now matched by a delicate gold band on my index finger.
"You are breathtaking," Julian whispered, his voice trembling with emotion.
"And you are my home," I replied softly.
The archbishop conducted the service, speaking of love that overcomes tragedy, bloodlines reunited by grace, and a peace built to last generations.
"By the power vested in me," the archbishop declared, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Don Julian, you may kiss your bride."
Julian pulled me into his arms, dipping me gently as he pressed his lips to mine. The entire cathedral erupted into thunderous applause, cheers, and tears of celebration.
As we walked back down the aisle hand-in-hand, holding our children, I looked up at the stained-glass windows catching the golden afternoon light.

My mother’s warning had been born of fear, but my path had led to love. The dragon had not destroyed me; it had protected me, cherished me, and given me a life beyond my wildest dreams.
