Chapter 4 - The Public Confession
The grand press room of the Carver Plaza was packed to the brim with reporters, their cameras flashing like a storm of lightning. When Daniel led Hannah onto the stage, a collective murmur ran through the crowd.
The contrast was stark: the billionaire tycoon and the beautiful, pregnant woman with short, striking hair, looking calm and poised.
Daniel took his place behind the microphone, keeping his hand resting gently on the small of Hannah’s back.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Daniel began, his voice commanding absolute attention. "I am here today to address the events that took place at my estate last night, and to put an end to the baseless rumors circulating in the media."
A reporter from a prominent tabloid stood up. "Mr. Carver, is it true that you canceled your wedding to Claire Whitlock for your maid? Is the child she is carrying yours?"
"The woman standing beside me is Hannah Vance," Daniel said, his voice echoing clearly. "She is not just a member of my household. She is the woman who has stood by my family through our darkest times, caring for my nephew Ben, and showing more grace and integrity than anyone I have ever met. And yes, she is carrying my child."
The room erupted into a frenzy of questions. Daniel raised his hand, silencing them instantly.
"Our relationship began under a private, legal contract," Daniel explained, protecting Hannah's privacy while framing the truth in a way that left no room for scandal. "But true character is revealed in times of crisis. Last night, Claire Whitlock showed her true colors. Her actions were not just an insult to Hannah; they were a criminal assault on a pregnant woman. We will be pursuing full legal charges against her."
Hannah stepped forward slightly, her voice steady as she addressed the cameras. "I have worked hard my entire life to support my family. I am not a victim, and I will not be silenced or intimidated by those who think their wealth gives them the right to treat others as disposable. This child will grow up knowing love, respect, and dignity—values that cannot be bought."
The reporters were stunned by her poise. The narrative of the "homewrecking maid" crumbled instantly, replaced by the compelling story of a brave woman standing up to a wealthy bully.
