Chapter 6 - A Cradle by the Ocean

Three months later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the cliffs of Narragansett, where Daniel’s new oceanfront estate sat, away from the smoke and shadows of the Providence docks.

The name Carver was still feared in the city, but under Daniel’s leadership, the syndicate had transitioned into legitimate, legal enterprises. The docks were clean, the unions were fair, and the violence of the past was slowly fading into memory.

On the wide, sunlit veranda, a white wooden cradle swayed gently in the sea breeze.

Hannah sat in a rocking chair, a book in her lap. Her hair had grown into a soft, elegant bob that framed her glowing face. She looked healthy, peaceful, and incredibly beautiful.

Beside the cradle, Little Ben was carefully showing Caleb how to steer a toy sailboat in a small tub of water, their laughter drifting over the lawn.

The French doors opened, and Daniel stepped out onto the veranda. He had shed his usual dark suits for a light linen shirt and trousers, looking relaxed and deeply happy. He walked over to Hannah, leaning down to press a soft kiss to her lips.

"Is she asleep?" he whispered, looking into the cradle.

"Just fell asleep," Hannah smiled, reaching up to touch his face.

Inside the cradle lay baby Aria—a healthy, beautiful baby girl with her mother’s bright eyes and a fierce, stubborn spirit that she had already shown in her short life.

Daniel reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, velvet box. He knelt beside Hannah's chair, taking her hand in his. The stoic, untouchable boss of Providence looked up at her with an vulnerability that made her heart melt.

"Hannah," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "You came into my house looking for answers, and you ended up giving me a life I never thought I deserved. You, Caleb, Ben, and Aria... you are my home. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife? Officially, and forever?"

Tears of pure joy filled Hannah’s eyes. She looked at her brother, who was smiling at her from the lawn, and then down at their beautiful daughter. The darkness of the past was gone, washed away by the tide.

"Yes, Daniel," she whispered, leaning down to wrap her arms around his neck. "A thousand times, yes."

As Daniel slipped a stunning diamond ring onto her finger, a warm summer breeze swept through the veranda, carrying the sound of the ocean and the promise of a long, peaceful future together—a family rebuilt from the ashes, stronger and more beautiful than before.
