Chapter 10 - The King's Heart

Tears of pure happiness welled up in Priya’s eyes and spilled down her cheeks. She looked at the man who had transformed from a terrifying crime lord into a devoted, gentle father and her absolute protector.

"Yes," Priya whispered, her voice filled with emotion. "Yes, Weston! A thousand times yes!"

Weston slid the ring onto her finger. It fit perfectly. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her deeply, a long, passionate kiss that sealed their future together. Owen let out a happy, babbling giggle from the play mat, clapping his chubby little hands together as if celebrating the moment with them.

Weston broke the kiss, laughing softly—a sound so full of joy it seemed almost surreal coming from him—and pulled Owen into his lap, wrapping his other arm tightly around Priya.

One year later.

The coastal estate in Santa Barbara, California, was bathed in the warm, golden light of late afternoon. Ocean waves crashed softly against the cliffs below as gentle sea breezes swept through the blooming hibiscus gardens.

Weston had officially stepped back from the active day-to-day operations of his Chicago enterprises, handing management over to Viktor and transitioning his wealth entirely into legal global investments and philanthropic initiatives. The life of violence was buried forever.

On the grand manicured lawn overlooking the Pacific Ocean, a private, intimate wedding ceremony had just concluded.

Priya stood under an archway of white roses and eucalyptus, wearing a stunning, elegant lace wedding gown that drifted around her feet. Her hair was styled in soft curls, and her smile radiated bright, unshakeable happiness.

Weston stood beside her in a sharp dark tuxedo, holding her hand with gentle firmness. On his hip, two-year-old Owen sat proudly, wearing a tiny matching tuxedo with a red bow tie.

"Presenting for the first time," the officiant announced with a warm smile, "Mr. and Mrs. Weston Kade!"

The small gathering of close friends, medical colleagues from Priya’s foundation, and trusted estate staff broke into joyous applause.

Weston turned to his bride, a brilliant, breathtaking smile on his face. He wrapped his arm around her waist, dipped her back slightly, and kissed her deeply under the California sun. Owen cheered and threw his plush toy bear into the air, making everyone laugh.

Later that evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in fiery shades of gold, crimson, and purple, Priya stood on the balcony off the master suite, wrapped in a soft silk robe.

Weston stepped out behind her, bare-chested, wrapping his strong arms around her waist and resting his chin softly against her shoulder.

"What are you thinking about, Mrs. Kade?" he asked softly, kissing the side of her neck.

Priya leaned back against his chest, placing her hands over his. "I was just thinking about the night we met. On the seventh floor of St. Jude's."

Weston smiled gently into her hair. "I was ready to burn the world down that night."

"And instead, you built a new one," Priya said, turning in his arms to look up at his face. "A world where Owen gets to grow up happy, safe, and loved."

"A world where I get to love you," Weston corrected gently. He cupped her face in his hands, staring deep into her eyes with boundless devotion. "You were the only one brave enough to look past the monster and fight for my child. You gave me a home, Priya. You gave me a life."

"We saved each other, Weston," she whispered.

Down the hallway, through the baby monitor on the nightstand, the peaceful, rhythmic sound of Owen’s deep, healthy breathing drifted out into the quiet night.

Weston smiled, pulled his wife close, and kissed her as the stars came out over the Pacific. The king had lost his empire of shadows, but in the arms of the nurse who had saved his son, he had found something infinitely greater: a home, a future, and a love that would last forever.
