Chapter 6 - A New Dawn

Six months later.
The rain had finally cleared, leaving the city skyline bathed in a brilliant, golden morning light.
The brass plaque on the front of the towering skyscraper no longer read Cross Capital. It now bore a sleek, modern emblem: Montrose Global.
Under Isabella’s leadership, the company had not only survived the scandal; it had thrived. She had settled the debts, restructured the toxic assets, and established a transparent corporate governance system that restored investor confidence to an all-time high. The stock was trading at record numbers.
Inside the sprawling penthouse office, Isabella stood looking out the floor-to-ceiling windows.
A gentle knock at the door broke her thoughts. Liam Vance walked in, holding two glasses of champagne and a copy of the morning paper.
"The court finalized the asset liquidation today," Liam said, handing her a glass. "Evelyn’s estate was seized to pay back the defrauded charity investors. And Damian’s plea bargain was rejected. He’s looking at a minimum of seven years."
Isabella looked at the front-page photo of Damian, stripped of his tailored suits, being led out of a courthouse. For the first time in years, she felt no weight on her shoulders. The ghost of her past was finally gone.
"How does it feel?" Liam asked, standing beside her, his eyes reflecting a deep warmth. "To finally have your name on the building?"

Isabella clinked her glass against his, a genuine, radiant smile lighting up her face.
"It feels like I finally got my signature back," she said, looking out over the city that was now hers. "And this time, no one else gets to write the ending."
