Chapter 6 - Power Restored

Six months later, the spring sun warmed the city of Chicago, melting the last of the winter snow.
The glass skyscraper of Robertson Global Corp stood proudly against the skyline. Inside the top-floor executive suite, a massive board meeting was underway. Over fifty partners, investors, and international directors sat around a long mahogany table.
At the head of the table sat Finnley Robertson. But today, he wasn't the one leading the presentation.
"And that, gentlemen, is our five-year projection for our green technology division," Hailey said, her voice confident and clear.
She stood at the front of the room, wearing a tailored navy power suit, her hair styled perfectly, her presence commanding the entire room. On the screen behind her, complex financial models and global expansion plans were displayed.
The board members sat in silence for a moment before erupting into enthusiastic applause.
"Brilliant presentation, Ms. Robertson," one of the senior investors said, standing up to shake her hand. "The board is entirely in agreement. We are ready to authorize the funding immediately."
"Thank you, gentlemen," Hailey smiled, shaking his hand. "I look forward to working with you."
As the room emptied, Finnley walked over to his daughter, his eyes shining with immense pride. "You were incredible today, Hailey. Your mother would have been so proud to see you up there."
"Thanks, Dad," she said, hugging him. "I finally feel like I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be."
"Speaking of being where you're supposed to be," Finnley smiled, nodding toward the glass wall of her private office.
Inside the office, Arthur’s assistant was playing with Toby, who was now a healthy, giggling seven-month-old baby, crawling around on the soft rug. Beside him sat a brand-new, customized baby stroller.
Hailey walked into her office, lifting Toby into her arms. He let out a happy squeal, burying his face in her shoulder.
"How is my little businessman?" she cooed, kissing his cheek.
While she was playing with her son, her phone buzzed with a news notification. She glanced at the screen.
FORMER TECH CEO JASPER VANCE SENTENCED TO 8 YEARS FOR EMBEZZLEMENT AND FINANCIAL FRAUD The disgraced founder of Vance Tech was led away in handcuffs today after a federal judge finalized his conviction. His mother and sister have reportedly filed for bankruptcy.

Hailey looked at the headline for a brief moment. There was no joy in her heart, but there was no pity either. Jasper had made his choice on the steps of that hospital, and the universe had simply balanced the scales.
She closed the screen and turned her attention back to the only thing that mattered: her son, her family, and the legacy they were building together.
