Chapter 6 - A Life Restored

The rain fell in heavy, blinding sheets over Pier 42 at the Boston Harbor. Rusted cargo containers stacked four stories high created a maze of shadow and steel along the dark ocean water.
Inside a dimly lit boat hangar at the end of the pier, Phil Callahan stood shivering, holding a heavy black duffel bag filled with bearer bonds. Standing across from him was Vincent Moretti, his arm bound in a tight sling, surrounded by ten heavily armed syndicate mercenaries.
"You did good, Phil," Moretti sneered, wiping rain from his face. "The feds are raiding Voss's castle as we speak. By tomorrow morning, Constantine will be in a federal supermax, and his little empire will belong to me."
"Just give me my passport and let me get on the boat," Phil stammered, clutching the duffel bag to his fat stomach. "If Voss finds out—"
BOOM!
The heavy steel doors of the hangar were blasted off their tracks as Constantine’s black Charger slammed through the barrier at full speed, spinning a sharp 180-degree drift into the center of the room!
The driver’s side door flew open! Constantine stepped out into the rain, holding a high-caliber tactical shotgun in his hands!
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Before Moretti’s men could even react, Constantine opened fire with devastating precision, dropping four mercenaries into the dark water of the bay!
The remaining mercenaries scattered behind steel shipping crates, returning wild automatic fire that shattered the Charger's armored glass!
Josie ducked low in the passenger seat, her heart pounding against her ribs, as Constantine advanced through the hangar like an unstoppable force of nature! He moved with cold, lethal grace, systematically neutralizing every gunman in his path until the hangar fell completely silent, save for the patter of rain against the corrugated metal roof.
Vincent Moretti backed up against the edge of the wooden pier, his gold pistol shaking in his uninjured hand as he stared at the looming figure approaching through the smoke.
"Voss... wait!" Moretti shrieked, backing toward the dark ocean water. "It was just business! We can share the territory! We can—"
Constantine stepped forward, grabbed Moretti by his lapels, and lifted him off his feet, suspending him over the churning, icy black waves of the harbor.
"You targeted my home," Constantine said, his voice dropping into a deadly whisper that echoed over the roaring tide. "You tried to blame the woman who saved my child. Your time in my city is over, Vincent."
With a single, effortless heave, Constantine threw Moretti backward into the roaring ocean currents below!
Phil Callahan fell to his knees on the wooden planks, weeping pathetically, holding his hands up in surrender. "Constantine! Please! I was forced! Moretti threatened to burn down Callahan's! He promised me money!"
Josie stepped out of the Charger, walking slowly across the wet pier until she stood beside Constantine, looking down at her former boss with a look of quiet disgust.
"You sold out a sick twenty-two-year-old boy, Phil," Josie said softly, her voice cold as ice. "You put my brother's name on a federal frame-up."
Constantine looked down at Phil, his dark eyes devoid of all mercy. "You will surrender yourself to the US Attorney's office in thirty minutes. You will confess to the hack, clear Liam Morrow’s name completely, and take your life sentence in prison. If you hesitate for one second... I will find you."
"I'll confess! I'll confess everything! I swear!" Phil sobbed, crawling toward his car on his hands and knees.
Constantine turned his back on the pathetic man, grabbing Josie’s hand, pulling her warm body close against his chest as the rain washed away the dark shadows of the night.
Six Months Later
The summer afternoon sun shone brilliantly over the green, rolling hills of the New Hampshire countryside. The new Voss estate—a warm, beautiful timber-and-stone house built near a crystal-clear mountain lake—was filled with the joyous sounds of celebration.
Laughter echoed across the manicured lawn where guests, friends, and family were gathered under white silk pavilions.
Standing near the edge of the lake was Liam Morrow. He looked healthy, strong, and full of life, his color completely restored, chatting happily with Viktor and the guards who now treated him like family.
On the grand wooden deck overlooking the lake stood Josie. She wore a stunning, simple white silk dress that caught the gentle summer breeze, her brown hair styled in soft waves adorned with small white flowers.
A tiny hand slipped into hers.
Seven-year-old Mila stood beside her, wearing a lovely yellow sundress, her dark curls dancing in the wind. She was smiling—a bright, radiant, beautiful smile that reached all the way to her dark, joyful eyes.
"Mommy Josie," Mila said softly, her voice clear, sweet, and confident. "Papa is waiting for us under the floral arch."
Josie looked down at the little girl, her eyes filling with tears of pure, unadulterated happiness. "Is he nervous, little star?"
Mila giggled, shaking her head. "No. But he keeps fixing his tie every five seconds!"
Josie laughed, taking Mila’s hand as they walked down the wooden steps onto the lush green grass toward the flower-covered archway where Constantine stood.
He looked magnificent in a dark charcoal tuxedo. As he watched Josie and Mila walking toward him under the summer sun, his dark, handsome face softened into a look of absolute, breathtaking devotion.
When Josie reached him, Constantine took both of her hands into his large, warm palms, holding them close against his chest.
"You gave me back my daughter," Constantine whispered, his voice thick with raw emotion as he looked deep into her eyes. "You brought light into a world that was consumed by darkness. I give you my life, my protection, and my heart for eternity, Josie."
"And I give you mine," Josie smiled, tears of joy sliding down her cheeks.
The priest stepped forward, his voice carrying over the peaceful lake. "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!"
Constantine pulled Josie into his arms, lifting her off her feet as he pressed his lips against hers in a passionate, joyful kiss that sealed their love forever!
The guests erupted into cheers and applause! Mila clapped her small hands, jumping up and down with her golden retriever puppy barking happily beside her!

As the golden sun began to set behind the mountains, casting waves of amber and violet light across the quiet water, Constantine stood on the deck, wrapping his arm securely around Josie’s waist, while Mila sat happily between them on a wooden bench, eating a warm, extra-crispy grilled cheese sandwich.
The dark days of silence, fear, and shadows were gone forever. In their place remained an unbreakable family, bound together by courage, truth, and a love that had conquered the darkest night.
