Chapter 6 - A New Dawn

"It’s a boy," the doctor smiled, holding up a tiny, squirming, red baby. "He’s premature, but his lungs are incredibly strong. A fighter, just like his father."

Dominic let out a breath he felt he had been holding for three months. Tears flowed freely down his cheeks as the nurses cleaned the baby and placed him gently on Megan’s chest.

Megan opened her eyes, looking at the miracle they had created. "He's beautiful," she whispered, her voice weak but filled with absolute joy. "Look at him, Dominic."

Dominic leaned down, kissing Megan's forehead, then gently touching the baby's tiny hand. The infant’s fingers wrapped around Dominic's thumb, holding on with surprising strength.

"His name is Leo," Dominic whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "Leo Russo."

One month later, the snow had melted, giving way to the first warm blooms of spring.

The Moretti threat was gone forever. Dominic had used his vast resources to hand over all evidence of their criminal syndicate to the federal authorities, completely dismantling them while securing a full, ironclad immunity deal for himself. The Russo crime family was officially dead, replaced by a legitimate international logistics conglomerate.

On a beautiful, sunny afternoon, Megan sat on the porch of a stunning new estate overlooking the ocean in Maine. She rocked a sleeping Leo in her arms, a look of profound peace on her face.

The front gates opened, and Dominic’s car pulled up. He stepped out, no longer wearing the heavy, dark suits of a mafia boss, but a casual sweater and jeans. His face looked relaxed, the permanent tension in his jaw finally gone.

He walked up the steps, leaning down to kiss Megan deeply on the lips before kissing the forehead of his sleeping son.

"It’s officially done, Meg," Dominic whispered, pulling a document from his pocket. "The federal immunity is signed. The business is one hundred percent clean. No more shadows. No more lies."

Megan looked up at him, her gray-eyed protector who had literally rewritten his entire destiny just to keep them safe. She reached up, placing her hand on his cheek.

"I love you, Dominic," she said softly.

Dominic smiled—the rare, beautiful smile that she had once feared she would never see again. He sat beside her, wrapping his arm around her shoulders, pulling his family close as they watched the sun set over the calm, endless ocean. They had survived the ashes, and from them, they had built a beautiful, unbreakable future.
