Chapter 6 - A New Dawn

Three months later, the headlines had finally shifted. Vale Holdings was completely liquidated, its assets seized by the government and redistributed to the charities Vanessa had used as fronts for her crimes. Vanessa and her father were serving consecutive sentences in a federal penitentiary, their names permanently erased from high society.

"Just us," Daniel murmured, kissing the side of my neck. "And the future."

I turned around in his arms, looking into the eyes of the man who had stood by me when the whole world was laughing. The silk sundress I wore today was whole, beautiful, and completely unbothered by the wind. My scar was hidden beneath the fabric, but I knew it was there—and for the first time in my life, it didn't represent a night of tragedy. It represented the moment I fought for my life, won, and cleared the path to find a love that was fierce, protective, and entirely unbroken.
"Just us," I agreed, smiling up at my husband as the ocean roared gently below us, ushering in a perfect, peaceful new beginning.
